I'll take Exaggerations for $100, Alex.
If people would have just trusted me ...
And, yes, it wasn't a very good match. PSU was only in g3.

That ball was down! (Click to enlarge.) Try looking at this still instead; yours still was a frame too early. That ball was UP!!! Her hands and thumbs were under that ball. Nebraska was still going to win, PSU played poorly. This is more a knock on the horrible speed and resolution of the replay cameras.

Too early or too late? You mean because mine showed the ball on the floor? Too early or too late doesn't matter if the ball was on the floor, does it?
Man, talk about bias. Why not give me a still before the ball even gets to her? It's not on the floor then either.

I meant a frame earlier than the still I provided. There is no bias, because I acknowledged that the match was won by NE. My problem is with the replay system. Overturning a call based on inconclusive video evidence. The quality of those stills is horrible.

If Penn State leads 23-22 at that point, and not Vice-Versa, and PSU wins, they may go on and take the match. They were playing very well at that point. Nebraska came back from a 0-2 deficit in State College to win in 5.

I still havent seen a picture in which I have concusively seen the ball hitting the floor and compressing. Also I didn't notice any funky spin off the ball when watching it live, which I would expect if the ball hit the floor. That said I think Nebraska still deserved to win, they are definitely the better team than Penn State.

Stop being stubborn, (R)uff. That was a clean dig. With the way the two teams were playing, it didn't affect the outcome but Penn State was robbed of a point.
Nebraska played well. Solid passing, solid digging and great hitter coverage. They blocked well too but some of that was on Penn State. Geez, the Nittany Lions have talent but the results are not surprising at all considering Nebraska won the serve/ pass game by a wide margin. All in all a good win by Nebraska but not a bad loss by Penn State- they need to be better.

Changing the subject: Can we discuss Haleigh Washington? For all the recruiting hype and physical talent, I haven't found her to be that dominant of a player this year. Her defense is suspect given her physical gifts and offensively she seems a little one-note. I know that passing/setting can have a big impact on MBs (e.g. Nebraska last year), but she's too talented to not be a force on both offense and defense, especially when PSU needs a momentum shift. Moreover, she seems like a really pleasant young lady, but could she be almost too nice/passive? PSU seems to be missing their traditional fiery leadership and an athlete of her caliber would be a great candidate to provide it but it doesn't seem to be in her personality.

Can we all agree that the down ref had a good reason to overturn the call? Maybe it's an optical illusion (nope), but the ball appears to be on the floor. Probably can't. Carry on. (By the way, Nebraska lost 24-26 in g2 at Happy Valley. Penn State was never in this match until the very end of g3 -- and then it was too late.)

The main thing I take from those pictures is that the camera is not nearly good enough for review purposes. You can barely see that ball at the key moment because the frame rate is so slow relative to the flight of the ball.
If they can't get better cameras, they should just not review touches or down balls like that.

She has the physical tools to be a great blocker but she has to do a better job trying to figure out where the setter is going. She left too many holes for Nebraska hitters to exploit last night.

I'm saying Nebraska was back in the match at PSU, even down 0-2. PSU wasn't even competitive until late in g3. Was there as good of a reason to believe they were going to turn the match around? Man. Some people get so testy.

What a shame Kenzie Maloney went to Nebraska. She could have been a Natalie Hagglund like libero at Penn State for four years, but instead she is a DS and will only libero for two years at Nebraska. I thoroughly believe Penn State would have been number one if Kenzie would have gone to Penn State. I know for a fact that A, Kenzie didn't ever even consider going to PSU and B, She is VERY happy with the choice she made.
