I like the parings, I don't like the location. Travel to College Station is not ideal and Reed gives the Aggies a genuine homecourt advantage. I will withhold my thoughts on the Aggies as the Bows need to get to the second round first. Well A&M earned the right to play at home so I'm not sure why you're complaining about the location. And for some reason people keep ruling out A&M despite them winning the SEC and winning tough matches when they fell behind early.

I have seen TCU several times and they have progressed immensely from early season. I have also seen Hawaii twice and think this will be a good first round match.

I would have preferred Hawaii to travel to the West Coast, where many Wahine fans would attend. Travel would also be much easier. Not sure how many Wahine fans are making the trip to College Station. I said College Station is not ideal, that's not really a complaint-it's better to face Texas A&M than Washington, USC, UCLA or Stanford.

I don't think anyone is questioning A&M deserving of hosting, rather travel to College Station is a bit difficult for teams coming from out west or from east coast. You basically have to fly to Houston and take an RJ to College Station or drive 2 hours from Houston. Not ideal travel for Wahines.
Also, Reed is truly an advantage for A&M. I went to a match in early October there and they get good turn out, have the band, and it was really cold in there.

Favorable draw for Hawai'i. Hawai'i vs PSU in the regional semifinal will be fun. I watched the TCU-Texas match where TCU won. Our first match will not be a push over. Haven't seen A and M this year. Anyone seen them?? I'm definitely relieved the Bows aren't facing an all-around solid team in Washington, as well as Bricio and company, but it worries me that the Bows are in the same sub regionals as Texas A&M. I hope Shoji and Na Wahine do not underestimate them or TCU. Both teams are not pushovers. Corbelli (thanks for giving us Sykora, one of my all time favorite vball players) has a really solid TAMU team, imo. Their floor defense may not be as mind blowing as UCLA's but it is impressive, and may leave our hitters flustered--especially Tai. The same can be said about their offense. Aiple, their setter and conference POY, sets a quick offense. If Hawaii isn't able to serve them (or block them) out of system, it may not end well for Hawaii. Hawaii is certainly a strong team, but they're known for their slow starts and the ability to lose focus in the middle of matches ... and if Tayler Higgins buckles under pressure when things get tight (which she has done), a 2nd round exit yet again may be a possibility. If the Hawaii team that showed up in the 2nd set against the Beach during the first meeting in October, and most of the rematch (esp the 3rd set) against the Beach in November, then I'll be happy and a little relaxed. That team was focused, determined, and dangerous. I hope this time around the coaches and players will be able to adjust to anything the Aggies throw at them. The loss in the 1999 regionals to them (with Heather Bown no less) haunts me to this day. But first thing's first: FOCUS on TCU.

TCU kinda worries me, folks. I know Hawaii matches up well with them.....gonna be a hellava dog fight. I just hope Hawaii has found its "killer instinct" while on that 6 game road trip. This is a good Wahine squad....now if these girls can play with that fire in their gut and you got a potential deadly team. Play up....one or done. GO BOWS!

The match with Penn State will be epic should they make it there! I'm also happy that my Huskies won't face them this time.

If Hawaii and Penn State meet, you will have the two winningest coaches in NCAA Volleyball history facing each other.

Luckily for us.....our girls nor our coaching staff will not overlook or underestimate this TCU team. Gonna be a good game from both I believe!
Shucks that they play this game in the early afternoon Hawaii time. Wonder if I should call in sick or work a half day?lol

Great draw for Hawaii, and I think they'll win their first two rounds, BUT, I don't think a win over TAMU is just a given and believe TAMU COULD (not "will") beat them. TAMU does have home court and they're a pretty good, if not spectacular, team. But, If I had to bet, I'd choose HI.
Edit: Sorry. I didn't read the whole thread before posting, and realize my post is completely repetitive of the posts other people made.

Texas station is central time? So 4 hours ahead of Hawaii? Is Hawaii playing 530 est or central time?

I'd like to see Hawaii keep the defenders guessing a bit by executing a few more pipe sets to both Greeley and Tai....maybe have Tai pull out a few timely tips instead of the usual hit hard, hard, harder..... maybe more than 1 slide set to Magill.....and have our setters become just a wee bit more aggressive on the dunk. Of course, you execute exactly what got them there but add to its options just a bit more frequently and not just for bail out situations.
Oh, and have Tai jump serve once in a long while to change it up just a wee bit. Maybe pull the jump serve out once during serve.
