TAMU at home will be tough to beat for a lot of teams.
And TCU isn't a gimme by any means. Watching TCU's win over Texas earlier in the season right now, and they serve tough and play great floor defense ... the type of scrappy team that hawaii has struggled against.
Hoping hawaii can get outta this subregional, and make it back to a regional for the first time in what seems like ages ... it's gonna be tough, of course, but that's expected when ur an unseeded team.
Go bows!!

I saw this match. TCU made Texas look average. However, TCU lost some matches later which made them look vulnerable. It'll be interesting for sure. Can't wait till post-season play kicks into gear.

I like the parings, I don't like the location. Travel to College Station is not ideal and Reed gives the Aggies a genuine homecourt advantage. I will withhold my thoughts on the Aggies as the Bows need to get to the second round first. Well, give us you thoughts on TCU then. I have seen TCU several times and they have progressed immensely from early season. I have also seen Hawaii twice and think this will be a good first round match. Probably the best first round match - worthy of viewing.

If Hawaii and Penn State meet, you will have the two winningest coaches in NCAA Volleyball history facing each other. It will be epic, to say the least. Hope we are able to see it happen.

Is it possible we can get some discussion about the other 15 teams in this Regional?

Does anyone know what time the December 12 game will be at? Even best guess would be appreciated.

Is it possible we can get some discussion about the other 15 teams in this Regional? Maybe there should be another thread just for those 15 teams

Is it possible we can get some discussion about the other 15 teams in this Regional? I will say that I like Illinois to win the Louisville subregional. When the Illini are clicking they are quite good.

When the Illini are clicking they are quite good. But they have not been clicking for many matches now, so it's a tall order. I do think they are talented, so they may surprise in the tournament.

This board is so quiet. The fans must still be asleep?

I don't think Hawaii will have any problems with TCU. Yes, TCU swept Texas at home. But, what other key win did they have? TCU has a couple of former Texas assistant coaches/ players on their staff, so they are very familiar with what Texas does. And, Texas was just coming off an emotional home sweep over Kansas. TCU certainly got it up for Texas (in front of their home fans), but they would be playing Hawaii away from home, and I don't think they'd be able to get it up like they did against Texas (no disrespect intended to the Bows). Plus, think this is the first NCAA tourney game ever for Coach Kramer.
Against A&M, I do think it's a better matchup for Hawaii than against the PAC schools. Kudos to A&M for coming back against Kentucky, Florida, and Mizzou in recent matches; but, not every team you face is gonna allow you to dig yourself out of a pretty big hole. Keep falling behind, and one day your luck runs out and you can't recover.

This is a very interesting regional. I know Hawaii fans are happy they are not in PAC-land for the first weekend, but I think they have a tough road out of College Station. I think Minnesota easily gets to Regional final, but would face a tough test from Penn State or Hawaii.
Minnesota over Illinois in 4 Hawaii over Penn State in 5
Minnesota over Hawaii in 3 or 4.

Hoping that the Gophers will play well and advance, but I'm not sure it's going to be easy (with the exception, I imagine, of Jackson State). Remember that earlier in the year, the Gophers went 5 with both Louisville and Illinois. The Louisville match was the one where Daly had 39 kills on 93 swings. And in the one match against Illinois, Minnesota barely won the first, 26-24 before Illinois won the next two 25-22 to go up 2-1. Gophers did dominate the 4th and 5th, but swap a couple points in the first and that's a sweep for the Illini. Personally, I'm hoping that if the Gophers advance, they play Hawaii since we've already seen Penn State twice this year, and Minnesota has never played Hawaii (other than in Hawaii.) Honestly, I think there are a lot of people underestimating how tough some of pre-regional final matches are going to be. There are a bunch of really good teams, and pretty much all of them have some flaws, Minnesota, Penn State, A&M, Louisville, Hawaii and Illinois included. Should be fun regardless!
