Regarding PSU fans, see the post above. Regarding HI fans, they couldn't be more content with their bracket. They're happy as clams, at least the ones I've talked with. I think us Hawaii fans are just simply happy to be out of the west for once. Not downplaying the opponents because it will be a tough one. But because it is someplace else other than Seattle or LA for a change. I hear you. As a PSU fan, I'm just happy that we won't have to face a Big10 team until the Regional Final, if we get that far.

I don't think anyone has an easy path to the final four. (Hawaii fans, cover your eyes here.) If the seeds hold, you end up with regional finals of: 1 USC vs 8 Stanford 2 Minnesota vs 7 Penn State 3 Texas vs 6 Wisconsin 4 Nebraska vs 5 Washington Doesn't look to me that this regional is more or less of a challenge than the others. If these are indeed the Regional Finals, Minnesota has little to complain about, because of the 8 teams listed, Penn State has played the worst in the last couple of weeks of the Season.

TAMU at home will be tough to beat for a lot of teams. And TCU isn't a gimme by any means. Watching TCU's win over Texas earlier in the season right now, and they serve tough and play great floor defense ... the type of scrappy team that hawaii has struggled against. Hoping hawaii can get outta this subregional, and make it back to a regional for the first time in what seems like ages ... it's gonna be tough, of course, but that's expected when ur an unseeded team. Go bows!! I agree. Hawaii has to take the first weekend very seriously, and not "play down" as they seemed to do for stretches this season. My guess is that will not happen. What I expect to happen, with this Hawaii team, is that they will show up with a chip on their shoulder, and feeling that they have something to prove. I like Hawaii A LOT when they feel that way. BYU played that way when they took Hawaii out of the tournament (two year ago i think?). They staired down the Wahine before that match. That was a good BYU team that felt they had something to prove. I see Hawaii in that role this year.

I think you are misinterpreting him. Hawaii has all the firepower of a top 10 team but has been"playing down", meaning Hawaii has not been playing at the level it is capable of. In an earlier post dd2000 said: "I watched the TCU-Texas match where TCU won. Our first match will not be a push over." To beat TCU Hawaii must not play down, and there's no guarantee it will beat TCU even if it doesn't play down. Read more: volleytalk.net/thread/61116/des-moines-regional#ixzz3t2p5oCLE

I think Hawaii has the toughest first round match of this region. TCU is very scrappy and have 2 good MB and 2 above average OH and have good size.
Don't get over-confident because I want to see Hawaii vs. A&M

I'm assuming OC-16 is not making the trip? I don't see TV schedule or streaming availability for the Hawaii match. Maybe they'll add it later. The wahine is still in the islands or already left for texas?

The team and coaching staff however have not indicated at all that they are over-confident against TCU. In fact, they know the challenge they are up against. And they will train and practice for a battle. A big difference.

I think all on this side of the bracket are happy just because Penn State actually looks "beatable" for a change. And I don't say that as a negative at all just that it shows how unstoppable PSU has been for years and how much of a force PSU has been in the college volleyball world. With that said however....this is the NCAA tournament. Anything can happen. Very excited and wish all the teams well besides TCU of course.lol

Just curious as to why everyone dislikes TCU? I have no affection either way.
EDIT: OK, I realize now its the HI fans who don't want TCU to win in round 1; very understandable. Still figuring out who's who in the world of VT.

I don't think "dislike" is the right word; it's "like". Because it's Hawaii's ticket to the 2nd rd. Kidding, kidding! Just disagrees with the use of the word "dislike".
