Does anyone know what time the December 12 game will be at? Even best guess would be appreciated. According to the NCAA Website, Des Moines games are 5 and 7:30 on Friday and 6:30 on Saturday. My guess is that all of those times are listed in EST, not CST. So 4 and 6:30 Friday and 5:30 Saturday. www.ncaa.com/championships/volleyball-women/d1/road-to-the-championship

This is a very interesting regional. I know Hawaii fans are happy they are not in PAC-land for the first weekend, but I think they have a tough road out of College Station. I think Minnesota easily gets to Regional final, but would face a tough test from Penn State or Hawaii. Minnesota over Illinois in 4 Hawaii over Penn State in 5 Minnesota over Hawaii in 3 or 4. Hoping that the Gophers will play well and advance, but I'm not sure it's going to be easy (with the exception, I imagine, of Jackson State). Remember that earlier in the year, the Gophers went 5 with both Louisville and Illinois. The Louisville match was the one where Daly had 39 kills on 93 swings. And in the one match against Illinois, Minnesota barely won the first, 26-24 before Illinois won the next two 25-22 to go up 2-1. Gophers did dominate the 4th and 5th, but swap a couple points in the first and that's a sweep for the Illini. Personally, I'm hoping that if the Gophers advance, they play Hawaii since we've already seen Penn State twice this year, and Minnesota has never played Hawaii (other than in Hawaii.) Honestly, I think there are a lot of people underestimating how tough some of pre-regional final matches are going to be. There are a bunch of really good teams, and pretty much all of them have some flaws, Minnesota, Penn State, A&M, Louisville, Hawaii and Illinois included. Should be fun regardless! Illinois, in my opinion from watching them all year, has regressed a lot since they played that brutal stretch of PSU/OSU/MINN/WIS. They played well in those matches, but the other teams were just better and it's as simple as that. I think Illinois will get past Louisville to make it to the Regional Semi (it'll be a very close match like earlier), but Minnesota will sweep them quite good. The Illini can't stop a middle to save their lives and a team with two outstanding middles will dominate them IMHO.

Minnesota has by far the toughest draw of the top 4 seeds.
They have a loss vs TAMU went to 5 with Louisville (Daly needed 39 kills) to win that match went to 5 with Illinois Hawaii which is a good team and then there is PENN STATE UNIVERSITY, who come tourney time are always a tough team no matter what.

Where are all the Penn St. fans? I expected this thread to be Hawaii and Penn St. heavy with a sprinkle of (R)uffda but we are already on page six and maybe 1-2 posts by Penn St.?

I can't say if it is the toughest draw or not, but it is interesting that the Gophers have already had a match that went to 5 sets with 4 of the top 5 other teams in the Region.

PSU fans are all receiving positive thinking therapy right now and cannot be disturbed. Hawaii fans are looking for something to complain about, but struggling so far.

I don't think anyone has an easy path to the final four. (Hawaii fans, cover your eyes here.) If the seeds hold, you end up with regional finals of:
1 USC vs 8 Stanford 2 Minnesota vs 7 Penn State 3 Texas vs 6 Wisconsin 4 Nebraska vs 5 Washington
Doesn't look to me that this regional is more or less of a challenge than the others.

They're beginning to slowly migrate to the Dignittany VB forum. Plenty of discussions there with fewer contentions. I'd think most VT'ers would be happy to see them go.

I think us Hawaii fans are just simply happy to be out of the west for once. Not downplaying the opponents because it will be a tough one. But because it is someplace else other than Seattle or LA for a change.
