What a complete player she is! She was passing nails and taking half the court, and still able to transition out to hit the ball from anywhere. Irvine had serious passing issues as well- but since Wing was passing half the court, it wasn't as devastating as Beach's problems. She did the same thing in UCI's match with Hawaii, but couldn't quite duplicate the effort in the next afternoon's match against Cal. Maybe it was too quick of a turnaround for her and UCI. But overall, I just loved watching Kelly play. Passing, digging, blocking, serving, hitting -- everything. Great player!

I'm glad to see UCI putting it all together again like earlier in the season and getting back to their winning ways. The Big West is turning into a real brawl with 5 teams within a game of each other. This could still be a pretty good year for them as 4 of their starting 6 are seniors....after this year, however, Charlie is gonna see a lot of losses to LBS before he sees another win.

To PSQ33 - this is NOT the match to use a barometer... They're way too inconsistent to use one match... especially one as ugly as that... When the passing goes bad, so does everything else... A barometer match would be against San Diego... We hadn't seen that type of blocking and defense in a long long time... That was PROGRESS... And Natalie Uhart was injured - perhaps she's not 100% yet... GO BEACH!!! Natalie is NOT injured SDB. Mariko is and probably should have sat out last night's match as she was totally ineffective on both offense and defense. She didn't practice all week! Kristin Voysen has had the flu all week and spent practice lying on the floor all week. Makini Thompson practiced this week, for the first time all year just about and came in to play and was very erratic. Natalie should be starting at MB along with Alexis!

No, as Jim Leahey (Hawaii TV play-by-play man) said when UCI played in Hawaii last month, CASH is money! LOL ;D Actually I don't think much at all of Sammy Cash's game. For a senior she is just about equal to where Alexis is right now, and she is a freshman. Cash is very erratic.....UCI has one thing that LBS doesn't and that is KW who is their absolute "go to" person who CAN DELIVER when they need a point. She settles that entire team down and right now LBS has no one like that who is that good and plays all the way around. Without Kelly Wing, UCI is a bottom feeder in the Big West.

Don't be so sure of yourself, Beachman! ;D UCI will be hurt next year by the loss of players/leaders like Ashlie Hain, Kelly Wing, Sami Cash and Dana Kurzbard, but they'll still have a pretty solid nucleus coming back, with Amanda Vazquez, Keegan Featherstone, Trisha White, Whitney Pavlik and Jennifer Moser all getting significant playing time this year. Plus, they've got four good freshmen on the team this year and if Charlie gets a few more good freshman and/or transfers next year, who knows? They will still be up there fighting for the conference crown. Of course, LBSU will also be improved. They seem to be coming back from the few down years that they've had to endure recently. The Big West will be tough again next year.

I haven't seen what Charlie has coming in next year but he has a major rebuild in store for himself. We are pretty well set for the next 4 years right now, with the exception of the question mark at setter. Charlie has a huge hole to fill with Kelly and his setter is very good and they lose her as well. From what I have seen from the others you mentioned, they are a little undersized and not terribly athletic.

If you guys are happy being set with losses to Irvine, Pacific, among others in Conference play, so be it. But I don't exactly see that as something to be proud of or "set on."

That's not what I said! but you go ahead and make of it what you want, you always do! You're right... but you make it soooo easy! I should move up the intellectual ladder... but then I'd just be arguing with myself, and maybe (R)uffda's pinky.

IB, you spend way too much time acting like a clown and I really think that you love to entertain yourself and this is the only outlet that you have in your life....so sad

Cougarize, it's a good thing that we have both been able to keep our sense of humor! ;D Hey when the season doesn't go the way it should, when Rutgers takes you to five, when Oklahoma beats you in five at home, when Saint Mary's wins a five gamer it has no business being in, when we've gone through six liberos, and our favorite sister April is now our current libero ... well you've just got to laugh and wonder what the world is coming to.
