Stivrins is 99% a middle with a 1% chance at OPP. She will never play left. Again, agreed. I was more trying to elicit response on her playing status for next year. I think she'll probably sit and be a force alongside Holman in 2017. Jmo, I'd like to see her redshirt. However, Nebraska has so much middle talent on the roster (Rolfzen, Holman, and soon Stivrins) and coming down the pipeline (McClellan and Schwarzenbach) that Cook doesn't need to "save" her eligibility if she can help the team next year, even as a back-up/role player.

If that's true (and i have no reason to think it isn't) - if she proves to be one of the seven best players on the roster next fall, wouldn't Cook find a way to get her on the floor? My guess is they'll let the season dictate. She'll start at 3rd MB and barring injury or poor play in front of her, she'll end up redshirting due to lack of PT. That's fine though, she's a quick and lanky athlete who could use a year in the weight room to improve her upper body strength.

My guess is they go transfer shopping for a pin hitter and use Kadie wherever she's needed then. Transfer requests into Nebraska are part of the quotidian in Lincoln. Already this fall and winter, there have been some prospects who have reached out to some of our players. After high-profile transfers into the program like Robinson and Holman, who both found happiness (refuge, really), it shouldn't surprise you of all people that there are All-Americans wanting to finish their careers at Nebraska.

Transfer situations are always delicate and so much back story involved with each, but Nebraska is building a great reputation as a place to shine when it matters most (Kelsey as primary example). Keep us informed, Rio

I really hope Boender will get her chance in 2016. After being in the program for 2 years, I hope she gets to show what she's got

Agreed. Plus, her connection with Hunter is light years better than September, I imagine with more wrinkles added this offseason, either Stirvins redshirts or finds a way to play one of the pins. My question is, is she good enough to take Anni/Olivia/Tiani/Kadie on and land a starting spot? Stivrins is 99% a middle with a 1% chance at OPP. She will never play left. Unless something changes prior to next season, Amber R., Holman and Stivrins will be the only MB's on the roster. Not sure you take the chance of trying to redshirt Stivrins under those circumstances as she needs to be ready to play in the event of an injury to one of the starters. Along the same lines, I think this lack of MB depth for the 2016 season is a secondary reason Amber will not move to OH. As pointed out by at least one other poster, the primary reason being her development into an AA level MB by the end of this season.

Which teams does everyone want to see Nebraska play in the preseason?
Over the years, one can see two trends in Cook's scheduling: he likes bringing in tough teams, and he normally favors schools close to an out-of-state player's hometown for away matches to give his players the opportunity to play close to home. Cook should try to work something out with Haley or Sealy since USC and UCLA are so close to Cypress, Justine's hometown. And since it's become customary to go out to Hawaii every spring (either for indoor exhibitions or beach events), let's bring in Shoji's Wahine (best uniforms in the NCAA!) in the falls. Also, can we skip the probable match with ISU next fall and just play Kansas? Finally, what needs to happen to get Jim Moore to pick Texas and Florida at the 2016 VERT Challenge, allowing Nebraska to skip the Ducks and play the Horns and Gators instead?

This could go a couple different ways OPTION A: (Stivrins starting) OH: FoeckeOH: Amber Rolfzen MB: HolmanMB: Stivrins RS: Kadie Rolfzen S: HunterL: JWOOPTION B: (Albrecht/Boender starting) OH: FoeckeOH: Albrecht/Boender MB: HolmanMB: Amber Rolfzen RS: Kadie Rolfzen S: HunterL: JWORed I believe are locks for their position. I think it comes down to whether incoming frosh MB Stivrins will be getting the starting nod, or some combo of Albrecht/Boender at OH. From there, I think Cook then slots in Amber & Kadie accordingly. I'm torn on Option A as to which Rolfzen would move to OH, but it's hard to move someone from their 1st Team AA position. Of course, I realize that Option A has me moving a 2nd Team AA (Amber) away from HER position to accommodate a true freshman (Stivrins), but I justified the move in my head b/c (a) Cook will likely want to make a true freshman's transition to college as smooth as possible by keeping her where she's comfortable, and (b) Neb already had this situation occur this year w/ Foecke causing the Rolfzen switching... and that worked out pretty well! I would much prefer Option B. Would be a shame for Amber to have to switch positions AGAIN. Even though she obviously has experience on the outside. I just think with how great she was as a MB this year, thats where she needs to be along with Holman. I could see Boender coming through,

Some advanced statistics might be necessary to find the most beneficial portfolio/combination of players. Cook's MO is to not rock the boat (his switching of Foecke and Kadie during the season was an uncharacteristic risk) so I don't think he'll move Amber and Kadie again. Although, if the team can get more production from having Amber and Briana on the court together, he might need to shuffle the deck again. It's an interesting problem.

S: Kelly OPP: Tiani/Kenzie OH: Mikaela/Anni, Kadie MB: Bri, Amber L: Justine A lot can happen from now until next year, and I hope one of them is the development and rise of Tiani! Am I correct in assuming that you would have Anni play DS for Mikaela in this? I don't like that because they both have two of the best serves on the team and you would either be taking away one of them or they would be taking turns serving. Would rather have them both serve.
