You're out of your mind if you don't think Holman will be one of the starting MB's. And you're not very intelligent for underestimating Amber in the middle. It's gonna be one helluva battle to see who starts there. What are you talking about one of the starting MB's? Only one will start. As one of the people who considered moving Amber next year, I'll share my thought process: (A) Amber WILL be starting no matter WHAT the position next year. (B) Amber and Kadie are versatile - probably the best all-around volleyball players on the team. (C) Holman (1st team AA) and Stivrins (#9 HS prep) SEEM to both be MBs and only MBs. So me suggesting Amber might move to OH in order to get the best six/seven players together on the court was actually a compliment to her versatility rather than anything against her solid play. Can't wait for Cook's first media interview in the spring - you KNOW he will be asked about it!

Am I correct in assuming that you would have Anni play DS for Mikaela in this? I don't like that because they both have two of the best serves on the team and you would either be taking away one of them or they would be taking turns serving. Would rather have them both serve. Word. In that lineup, Kenzie would play Mikaela's back-row rotations in the same capacity that she does, allowing Mikaela to serve.

It seems so far that people are not giving Annika the consideration she deserves for the starting outside spot next year. She started this year as a 6 rotation outside after raving remarks by John Cook about her improvement over the summer. It didn't quite work out this year with the lack of experience against some of the tall blocks (Texas), but she led the Huskers in kills against Pittsburgh earlier in the season (not necessarily a tough opponent, but still). I believe that she will be working incredibly hard for that spot and Cook loves 6 rotation players. I believe that is her spot unless Boender outplays her (which I personally don't see happening) or Cook brings in an elite transfer OH. Otherwise, I would love to see Anni take that spot and I think she would be very successful there after building some confidence. It will be interesting to see play out! Very excited about this team next year! If Anni played all around, would she play OH1 or OH2? If she remained at OH1, rotations 5 and 6 would feature both Hunter and Albrecht in the front row, so she would have to really carry us in OOS plays. If she played OH2, however, we wouldn't have a back-row attack in rotations 2 or 3, which was almost always an option in this year's lineup.

I would probably say OH1 because she will build the confidence to swing OOS (she's a smart player that knows when to tool and when to rip it, similar to Amy Neal). In addition, Kadie would also be a back row option in those rotations which might ease Anni's load in those rotations. I would say these small details are signs that there are a lot of positives with next year's lineup, though, which is a great problem to have. Go big red!

It's gonna be one helluva battle to see who starts there. What are you talking about one of the starting MB's? Only one will start. As others explained, teams have two middle blockers, but since they play opposite of each other in the lineup, only one can be on the court at the time--unless either one of them serves. Sometimes, a coach will switch the M1 and M2 for favorable match-ups across the net, so it's not really important which one is on the floor during the first rally of play.

Boender has a heck of an arm but she needs to improve her conditioning if she wants to start next season. IMO, of all the power-smash-kaboom hitters Nebraska has had in the past decade, three of the top four will be on the '16 roster: Boender, Foecke, and Anni.

I wonder if Coach Cook will be cutting loose any more players during this off-season to make more room for recruits. It worked really well for him this year. Of course it will be the player's decision after his consultation for her benefit. I am glad to see none of the Nebraska faithful did not bite on your crappy post!
Are these the type of posts we have to look forward to in the off-season on VT from you because you are a bit bitter that your dynasty has ended?
Happy Holidays MTC, hope 2016 brings you some better sportsmanship.

To me, it seems that Anni's skillset as a six rotation player is more suited to the OH2 position. And, Foecke would be a good option as the OH1. However, I realize this is the opposite of where they played in the lineup most of this season. At the start of the 2016 season I think the most likely lineup has Boender sliding into Fien's spot, with Anni continuing to play the back row rotations. And, Foecke and Maloney would continue to split the front row and back row time of the other OH position.

Anyone know whether the Husker-Texas match from early this season is available on replay, e.g., on YouTube?

I agree that Albrecht would probably be best suited at L2, because it would mean less of a load to carry with Kadie in the front row with her. However, Cook usually puts his strongest OH at L2, so if Anni played L2, that would be a switch from what Cook is used to. I think you're right about what is most likely though (Boender replacing Fien, and Anni reprising her role in the backrow for L1), and also, that would mean Cook would be able to stick to his guns with having our best OH, Foecke, at the L2 position.

Anyone know whether the Husker-Texas match from early this season is available on replay, e.g., on YouTube? Part 1 and 2 of the Set 1 are up on YouTube. I assume all parts will be uploaded by tomorrow (both of the FF matches have already been posted on that channel, as well). It's also available in-full, (and in highest quality) here on WatchESPN with a cable provider subscription log-in (although I think this link will expire after a certain date).
