So for the 16s the bids are going to go to A5 Mizuno, Adversity, and HPSTL Orange (2s)? Pace Boot, HPSTL Royal, HVA, Ultimate Gold and MVC-Kyle all have bids, right? Correct.

Anything good from the 16's division? Upsets? Yes, a lot. The current #1 seed going into the Gold Bracket is Momentum 16 Black Boys, who came into the tournament seeded 34th. Chicago Bounce lost to A5 on the first day but now they are the #3 seed after beating Ultimate B16 Gold 21-19 in the 3rd. Roch Pace Bootlegger came back from a first day loss and is now the #16 seed heading into the gold bracket. One team that has surprised me is Cinci Attack 16 Black, they have beaten both SPVB Runbird and SPVB Mizuno and they are in the gold bracket. My Gold Bracket Predictions: Play-In Round 1 Momentum 16 Black Boys (RM) 16 Roch PaceBootleggr161 (WE) 9 RVC 16-1 (OD) 8 HPSTL B16 Royal (GW)5 HVA 16 PERFORMANCE (LS) 12 BRYC Boys 16 National (CH)
13 Ultimate B16 Gold (GL) 4 MVC B16-ALYSSA (BG) 3 Chicago Bounce 16 Red (GL)14 A5 Mizuno 16-B Erin (SO) 11 Cinci Attack 16 Black (OV) 6 MVC B16-KYLE (BG)
7 Pittsburgh 16-Black (KE) 10 Adversity 16 Purple (GL)
15 HPSTL B16 Orange (GW) 2 LIVBC 16 National Gold (GE)
Quarterfinals 1 Roch PaceBootleggr161 (WE) 8 HPSTL B16 Royal (GW) 5 BRYC Boys 16 National (CH) 4 Ultimate B16 Gold (GL) 3 Chicago Bounce 16 Red (GL) 6 MVC B16-KYLE (BG)
7 Adversity 16 Purple (GL) 2 LIVBC 16 National Gold (GE) Semifinals 1 HPSTL B16 Royal (GW) 4 Ultimate B16 Gold (GL) 3 MVC B16-KYLE (BG) 2 LIVBC 16 National Gold (GE)
Finals 1 Ultimate B16 Gold (GL)2 LIVBC 16 National Gold (GE)
Bids: BRYC Boys 16 National (CH) Adversity 16 Purple (GL) Whoever wins the Bid Bracket of the teams that lose in the play-in round (my bet is RVC 16-1 or Pittsburgh 16-Black) Semifinals for 16s are Pace vs. HVA and MVC vs Adversity.

The 18's division should be very predictable this weekend. Even without Mizuno, Sports Performance has two very good teams competing. IMO, Runbird is the favorite. Despite the lack of tallies in the win column at Palos last weekend, Wave was extremely competitive based on scores. They may have a shot to surprise some people for a bid after a week of practice. I'm thinking Sting, D1, and Uno come away with bids. BTW, my predictions for Palos were spot on so I seem to be a reliable source. I'm excited to see how it all shakes out. Pretty spot on high-intensityvolleyball!!! 3 out of 4 impressive!!! I'll be watching your predictions from now on.

So how did those East Coast teams do in the Midwest?

A lot better than most speculators expected. Don't really understand how most of the EC teams ended up on the same side of the 18s bracket. Were there many surprises this year?

Finals 1 Ultimate B16 Gold (GL)2 LIVBC 16 National Gold (GE)

So Adversity 16 Purple wins it all. They played so well today they definitely deserved it. Interesting to note that A5 Mizuno beat Chicago Bounce both on the first day and in the first round of the Gold bracket today. Bounce finished 13th. LIVBC gets taken out by HPSTL Orange (their 2's team) and finishes 15th. Ultimate beats MVC 2's only to lose to HVA immediately after. Pace Bootlegger comes in second after people claiming they weren't worthy of the top seed all week. HPSTL 1's finished a place lower than their 2's team. Does anyone know where HPSTL Royal's athletic lefty OPP was? They seem to be much more effective with him and I noticed he wasn't there all weekend and isn't listed on any HPSTL roster. The talk for best team in the Midwest really got screwed up in this tournament. HPSTL was in my opinion the best team in the Midwest but after this weekend I'm not so sure. At this point I think it goes MVC, Ultimate/Chicago Bounce then HPSTL/Adversity. Granted Adversity did win this tournament but they have been so inconsistent up until today and there is no way to know if today was a fluke or not. With all this being said I think there are a couple things to take away from this tournament; 1. Pace Bootlegger is a very solid team, 2. the Midwest should be very solidly represented at Nationals this year and 3. A5 Mizuno is definitely an underrated team this year and watch for them to win some games at Nationals this year, they are so scrappy and are such effective hitters.

Would have to disagree about pace.. had their hands full with Momentum who almost got a bid and took LIVBC to 3 and beat HPSTL orange (2s) and HPSTL royal was missing their big oppo as you said. They barely escaped HVA who I think theoretically shouldn't of made it that far from what I have seen. I would also definitely say Adversitys win was a fluke and they are not the best midwest team

Not sure if the standings are truly final for 16's. If you look at final match/set counts and point differential, you would reorganize the teams "tied" for fifth. I think the term I might suggest for this tourney is "parity". Anyone could beat anyone, on a given day, and that happened more than a few times this weekend. Based on that, I'll also throw out "unpredictable", which made for a great weekend of club volleyball!

I agree that they aren't as good as people think they are and were definitely very beatable this weekend but they did win the games that mattered and coming in second at this tournament is not easy at this age group.

Very interesting because of the plentiful of great 16s teams in the Midwest.

On the other hand, with only one bid tournament left, who are the contenders for at large bids in 16s?

On the other hand, with only one bid tournament left, who are the contenders for at large bids in 16s? RVC, Southport, and maybe Pac6? That last spot is a debatable one for sure.
