Uno wanted it more and played harder and better volleyball. (I wasn't there but that's what I'm assuming happened).

I've seen both teams play and it seems like that'd be a routine game for Yorktowne Uno was in the gym early Monday Morning and ready to roll. They wanted to win their bid this weekend. We came out flat and never got our serve going like we could. Uno played great we played eh. Def some interesting results this weekend in the 18s field! Fun times for next weekend. Mid Atlantic Championships. With the Power Pool format. The better teams rise up and keep playing each other!

It's amusing to look back at all this forums resident experts predictions. Nobody on here predicted Pace to be a contender in 18's or 16's and they placed 1st and 2nd. I believe their 15's placed 3rd. They didn't bring a 17's team. A fairly strong showing for a club that wasn't even considered to be a contender on this site. Keep an eye on PACE and LIVC in upcoming tournaments.

Keep an eye on PACE and LIVC in upcoming tournaments. I didn't see that much at all. Pace came in as the #4 , #1 and #1 seeds. (18,16,15) Had their 17's gotten into this tourney they also would probably have been the #1/2 seed. Not sure how they wouldnt be considered contenders.? The Rochester based club is always in the mix and those kids play tough. The HS ball and Coaches are excellent so most all of the players head into the club season very well trained and competition ready. Bid seekers often are the most dangerious teams as they are playing with an elevated sense of urgency so maybe that's why some of the other teams were mentioned. LIVBC has consistently produced emotional and competitive teams, however it might be noted, the club on the rise in that area seems to be the Academy Club. If everyone is at full strength , the BANE (Harrisburg) tourney should be alot of fun, especially with the Power Pool format for the 17 and 18's. As far as Yorktown's early departure, I would say every team who advanced to the later rounds was certainly capable of this happening to them in their 8am match. That Yorktown team is as balanced, talented and physical as any team they have ever put on the floor. Whoever gets them in their pool Day 1 at Nationals will have their work cut out for them.

Can someone explain how in the boys 16's rankings certain teams moved up and others moved down even though the results of the GATEWAY FESTIVAL haven't been added yet. Earlier this week Durham attack and HBC were 11th and 12th. Now they are 10th and 11th and no new data has been recorded in the rankings. Just wondering how that works. MVC and Pakmen flip flopped positions too. Any explanation would be appreciated. Thanks!

For example, Eden 18's is something like 50+ Wins and 3 Losses yet AES has us at 20-1 and the 3rd best team. My guys are told not to pay attention to that dysfunctional ranking system let alone read or participate in vtalk. Their energy and focus needs to be spent elsewhere.

I really don't put much stock in the rankings but I was just curious as to how they can have the teams ranked on one day, and then several days later the rankings are changed without any new data being entered. I would understand if the results of the St. Louis tourney were updated but they weren't . Makes me suspicious of the whole process! Is anyone on here involved in the ranking process and may explain it??? .

Is anyone on here involved in the ranking process and may explain it??? . While I don't have any insight to the AES national ranking algorithm, I believe strength-of-schedule is part of it. So its not only your own results that are considered, but also the results of all the teams you play (and who they play). So if there were changes in the rankings but St Louis results weren't included yet, then I'd guess ranking changes were the result of other tournaments being included. A quick search of AES shows four non-bid boys tournaments in February: Boys Juniors Feb Fun (Feb 7), Palos Courts Invite (Feb 6-7), Boys Virginia Beach Invite (Feb 13), Bayou Boys Classic (Feb 20-21). While the teams you mentioned in your original post may not have played in these other tournaments, teams they played may have (or other common opponents). When the results from these are included, I assume it could certainly change the ranking of teams that didn't play in them.

Thanks for the info. That might be what caused the changes and I appreciate your help!
