Not so sure about that, I have personally known many football players with great character and intensity. The problem is the sport and it's infrastructure more than the athlete's. Football really is a sport where you are chattel. The average career is about 18 months. The money and contracts are hardly ever guaranteed, and the injury rate is obscene. Take a look at the average SAT or ACT scores of football players as opposed to other sports, the culture sucks. It will make you proud to be a fan of NCAA volleyball in comparison. Chattel? Hardly. They are treated like gods from high school (or earlier) on. That is certainly part of the reason so many of them are jerks. I won't deny they are exploited and abused, but they are still idolized. But 95% is probably a conservative number. Golfers come in at 99.9%.

You guys are like those whining high school parents at games that the rest of us find so damn annoying. I trust Karch to make the right decision for the team . Obviously since her dramatic departure the US team has done pretty well. Lets be honest. She has been a mess. Only the coach can decide if that attitude has improved and will it have an adverse affect on the team. Its not your right to play on a team, its a privilege no matter how talented you are. Peyton Manning should have taught all of you something. That being a good teammate and having integrity in sports is important. Look at the legacy he is leaving that means much more than " He was a damn good player." Manning sexually assaulted a female trainer but got away because of his family name. Manning had the balls to write book about it then got sued and had to pay the woman. People are so obsessed with players like Manning because he could throw a damn football. Archie was a [jerk] when he played. He was 19 or 20 years old when the incident happened. Would you want to be judged by all the choices you made at that age? The same female trainer has tried to get money out of Manning multiple times, most recently bringing it to light again right after he just won this year's Super Bowl. Gold digger much?

She clearly wasn't a keeper. She'd never sign for his PEDs.

No they are not Dopple, maybe fans and outsiders treat them like gods, maybe they have an inflated opinion of themselves when young, but the sport itself treats them like crap, or chattel. Peyton Manning, Tom Brady or the very few that have a great career are not representative of what is really going on. Most leave the game broke, financially, spiritually and health wise.
Football the sport is a mess, but this is a volleyball forum so do not want to get to far into it.

Gold digger much? so it is ok to assault a woman when you are 20 ? btw, the woman did not bring it up again. It was part of ESPN expose of the sexual assaults in colleges. Several victims has filed suits against Tenn and other colleges. You need to get the facts straight. Instead of defending the abusers, you should be looking out for the victims. The Manning pressured several colleges to fire the woman several times. It was despicable act by the Manning family. The woman was not a gold digger. Manning violated a confidential agreement by writing a book and keep talking about it. you obviously don't know s h i t do you? The entire state of Tenn knew it. The University knew it. The people in Tenn knew it. just remember what goes around, it will come around.

Nice speech. Except the part about Peyton, who is an absolute jerk. As are 95% of all football players. 95%? I thought it was 87%. Where do you get your data?

Buckshot is flying on all directions.
Dangerous when it comes from people who don't know how to handle a gun, don't know exactly what they are aiming at or are in an emotional state.
Power of the "blind" I guess.

You still didn't answer my question, but maybe if I s p e l l it out for you like you do with words it will help you figure out the q u e s t i o n. Was the lawsuit that the trainer later filed a way of Manning bringing it up again? I didn't think so. Sure, he put it in his book, but again, the terms of the settlement was for him to know and none of us. Bottom line, Manning made a mistake that he owned up to, yet here is this woman STILL trying to get money out of him for YEARS. He's a winner through and through and of course the ONE thing the media can find out on him that's negative, they jump on.

Anyways, back to the Hooker. IF she does get invited back to the NT, I think it'll make the race for the second OPP spot all the more interesting between Murphy, Lowe, and Fawcett.

I'd love to see Hooker on the team, but I just don't know if I can see it happening. Clearly she's a force, but what would it do to the attitude of the team in these last few critical months?
