Hooker sucks... She's even more terrible than Tom. When will you people ever learn??!? Hooker sucks? at volleyball? Show me where Karch, or anyone else who coached her or played with her says that. She is a generational talent at her position.

Too bad there's no way to have an actual competition/trial in volleyball to determine who truly are the best players at their position or with their skills. At least in track and field and swimming there is actual competition (time trials) to determine who is best and "earns" the right to represent our country, and it doesn't matter at all if someone is a diva or not.

so it is ok to assault a woman when you are 20 ? btw, the woman did not bring it up again. It was part of ESPN expose of the sexual assaults in colleges. Several victims has filed suits against Tenn and other colleges. You need to get the facts straight. Instead of defending the abusers, you should be looking out for the victims. The Manning pressured several colleges to fire the woman several times. It was despicable act by the Manning family. The woman was not a gold digger. Manning violated a confidential agreement by writing a book and keep talking about it. you obviously don't know s h i t do you? The entire state of Tenn knew it. The University knew it. The people in Tenn knew it. just remember what goes around, it will come around. You still didn't answer my question, but maybe if I s p e l l it out for you like you do with words it will help you figure out the q u e s t i o n. Was the lawsuit that the trainer later filed a way of Manning bringing it up again? I didn't think so. Sure, he put it in his book, but again, the terms of the settlement was for him to know and none of us. Bottom line, Manning made a mistake that he owned up to, yet here is this woman STILL trying to get money out of him for YEARS. He's a winner through and through and of course the ONE thing the media can find out on him that's negative, they jump on. Manning agreed to an out-of-court settlement in 2003 that included a confidentiality ban on both parties. He then violated that ban by running his mouth, so of course she sued.

That's because the rest of the swim team doesn't have to deal with a diva during competition. Swimming is not a team sport.

This thread has more twists and turns than Chubby Checker in a blender. And all of that largely without that idiot Wingoz.

I tend to sympathize with Hooker because it's not as if she was arrested, or has a partying/drug problem, or assaulted anyone, etc. As far as I know, the reason she is not with the NT is because she brought friends to closed practices, and Karch didn't like Destinee's attitude..? I don't know all the details, but that is one of the few things that has surfaced.
To me, adults should be able to accept each other for their differences, and that is all this is, IMO. It's all over something so seemingly trivial. I like both Karch and Destinee, and it's sad to see them have a public feud like this. They are two of the biggest figures in volleyball in America today, and neither of them are going away anytime soon. They need to make up sooner, rather than later. It's inevitable; they're going to have to make up someday, so why not now?

All this talk about her character, family drama and her life in general is all nice and well. But at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is whether her being on the team can help the US team get the gold at Rio. Contributing to the team better than another player in her position would. If she can, she deserves a spot. If not, then she's out. This ain't a popularity contest or reality show. It simply comes down to whether she can do the job.
So it boils down to satisfying three things easentially: Does she have the talent? Yes, probably. Is she a good team player? Volleyball after all is a team sport, you need to play as a team, no matter how gifted you are individually. On that count, not so much. Finally, can she be counted on to be a clutch player, that she will be there for the team when the team needs her? Again, given her personal turmoil, the answer is uncertain. So she satisfies only 1 of the 3 requirements.

That way you won't look so silly.
