You are wrong. Not only not "easily the most famous," not even the most famous. MAYBE sometime in the 2009-2012 window girls knew who she was. Maybe. I don't understand why people present opinions in this thread as facts. Who are you to make this claim? Is there really any doubt who the most famous player is? Heck, everytime there's a thread on this board just mentioning Destinee Hooker it usually ends up being 20-40 pages. And if Destinee and Tom walked in a room full of casual volleyball fans who do you think there going to recognize, Destinee Hooker for obvious reasons. If Stephen Curry and Oscar Robertson or Wilt Chamberlin walked into a room full of young basketball fans, who would they recognize? Steph Curry, of course. Does that make him the most famous of all time? Or better than Wilt of the Big O? Just being good now doesn't mean you're most famous of all time. Kerri Walsh is the face of women's volleyball. At NCAA championships every year, young girls flock to her more than anyone else for her autograph. I would also put Logan way above Destinee, although Logan is no longer as popular among young girls.

To be fair, swiss (nor anyone else) never mentioned most famous of all time (at least that I can remember). I think among white girls it is Larson and among black girls it is Destinee (not 100%, but as a whole). I don't think young players even know who Logan Tom is anymore.

I guess Tom too huh... Don't mind me I just love stirring things up.. Tom won a NC in 2001 @ Stanford. And the only reason why Hooker didn't win a NC @ Texas in 2009 was because of everyone else. She had 34 kills and hit over 300 in the match. She was by far the best player on the court. Best offensive player, yes, that night for sure. BUT, on match point after Engle ripped an incredible jump serve, Glass setMegan Easy who hit a VERY disable ball at Hoover who Ole'd it. More than offense makes someone the best.

You fail to dig one ball and that's the reason you lose a 5-set match?

Of course not, I was pointing out that the BEST player on the court would have passed that ball, not go half-assed on effort. Engle may have been the best Player on the court that night.

You really think that on match point Hooker was "half-assed on effort"? I mean, that's not usually the time when somebody just shrugs it off and says, "I'll do it tomorrow."

It was actually a set from Arielle Wilson

What's funny is Hooker dug more balls than any non-libero in that match - for either team, plus she had taken 76 freaking swings that night (hitting .310). But clearly, she let everyone down then.......
