Wisconsin is turning into a recruiting powerhouse: Carlini-2013 #1 Gillis-2014 #7 Williams-2015 #6 Duello-2015 #9 Haggerty-2016 #5 Hilley-2017 #3 Rettke-2017 #8 Not quite Texas, but that is on part with any other program over the last 5 classes. I know Gillis was a transfer, but I included her to highlight the accumulation of talent. I'm surprised that Wisconsin only recently has been a recruiting powerhouse. It's a great school, nice city, etc. I think it probably speaks more of the coach's influence. Good programs and schools are not enough for recruiting.

I think we were somewhat of a powerhouse, but recruiting success mirrored the success of the program, which fell off from 2008 to 2012. Sheff came in right after the 2012 season and immediately stepped up the recruiting game. He was lucky in that LC kept her commitment to the Badgers after the coaching change, so he was able to attract hitters to come have her set them in the immediate future. Now that the program has a new culture and renewed success, it's back on the radar of top recruits.

No complaints. I would like to see Sheff tape into Texas and California. For some reason other BIG teams have been able to do that. Can't always blame the cold.

Hammons should've been higher. She's had USAV experience and she's probably the best all around outside in the class

I would like to see the Top 10 by position for each position:
- Outside Hitter - Right Side - Libero - Setter _ Middle Blocker

Why are setters/liberos undervalued on this list? I know of some names in both of these positions that I would put above some of the hitters mentioned as far as all-around ability. Not criticizing, just curious.

This reminds me a bit of 2011 for Texas with a big bonus in 2017 to include a top setter. Sun = Eckerman (Great terminators; need some work on passing) Butler = Bell (Physical, athletic MBs that can terminate and great blocking instincts) Eh, I disagree. Both Sun and Butler will be better than their predecessors, and are, arguably, better coming in as freshmen too.

But then, of course, girls like Butler touch even higher.

Not criticizing, just curious. Setters are not undervalued here. This was not a great setting class according to our panel. Liberos are another story. There remain many college coaches who won't recommend any libero for our list, arguing they can make a libero from a surplus outside or setter. They also are harder to evaluate.

IIRC in 2011 Texas got the top MB (Bell #2 on prep) and top OH (Echerman was #4 or #5) and in 2017 they will be getting the top OH and top MB ranked better though at #1 & #2.

Those coaches need to ask John Cook how important Wong Orantes was for the Huskers last year. It doesn't matter how good attackers are, great defenders separate championship teams from those that come in second place.

Texas has had a lot the best recruits last 10 years... None of them can ever pass though.. I see nothing new here for them, unfortunately,
