Casebeer being relegated back to the lower depths of the talent pool again?
Also, I have heard Bourne was going to move on with Taylor, which is why Taylor went with Gibb for the year.

I think he means Bourne will do one more year with Hayden then play with Taylor.

What a let down for Ryan. I like Billy a lot but good enough for fivb. I still can't believe Ryan and Casey did give it a year try. They beat the best team in the world when Ryan was a rookie or 2 year rookie.
I think Ryan would be better with th casebeer or slick. 2 bigs. Lol
What about Ryan and Rosie? Rosie is athletic enough to make a run for 2020 if he commits to it

I also think Brooke and Kim or fompa would of been better than Emily. Emily is good but I don't think those two pair up well lol

Taylor and Jake are better than the Crabbs together? Trevor and Rosie? Either one would be better off with Doherty and Trevor would be better off with Slick or maybe Billy Allen. Also Hyden/Bourne for another year is just dumb. Maybe some of these guys are waiting for the inevitable injury to John to try to pick up Bourne? Tri is 27 and was not competitive with the top teams last year. They did ok in a few Opens but when they played good teams with something on the line they got beaten handily. There is no way this team improves this year. Tri has elected for a ceiling of last year's results. Thats the best case scenario. Much more likely is John continues falling off and they rack up the 17ths, which were already 25% of their finishes last year). Its a cowardly choice.

This coming season looks to be a mixed up group of almost old and over the hill hoping for new life.
With Wilson & M pulling back on sponsor & spending in VB whom will induce new marketing blood & $$ into the pro venues?
Seems like the men's side of the game is fizzling without the winnings to intice guys away from indoor or to train full time while waiting tables.
Women's will start to show new blood within a few years but if you cannot make a living you have young up and comers leaving for law or technology careers.
We can thank DS for reviving the AVP but to create a true pro venue money must be invested in the players not just creating venues in cold & rainy New Orleans. New long term investment v. Day to day survival.
The NCAA didn't help either by trying to turn the beach game into a team sport. It just confuses the fans and eliminates pairs or individuals from rising and playing the best competition.

Men's side has been fizzing for quite some time now. You think it's bad now wait until Nick/Phil/Gibb/Hyden/Rosie are all gone. USA's best will consist of 3 really dynamic young players entering their prime in the Crabb's and Tri, and then old midlevel peddlers like Theo/Ryan/Mayer/Patterson.

Trying to think of any players in their twenties who are competing now besides those three. Brunsting and Frishman are the only ones that come to mind. I like both of them, except Frishman's 2-3 inches too short. Robbie Page I guess is the other young one - but he's still on the learning curve. Sigh.

Thats a bold prediction. Ill add one that contradicts it. Claes/Hughes make a podium in their first 10 FIVBs total, and first five Opens.

Hope you're right. Of course, your prediction makes my prediction more likely. High expectations leads to frustration if expectations aren't met right away, etc.

I'll make another prediction (perhaps not quite as bold). Of the men's teams, with the exception of Phil/Nick, Gibb and Taylor will have the most success. I see Jake with some renewed fire playing with Taylor plus I think Taylor will benefit from the switch to the left side.
