I don't see it happening. If he's successful with a modified 6-2 I think he sticks with it in order to maximize the effectiveness of the players in their respective roles. Maybe maybe but we saw some specialized work this past weekend on the 5-1. Maybe Detering s Reed OPP Washington and Thelen MH Lee and Frantti OH Sciorra as DS for Reed. Serving subs Weiskircher and Pierce The 5-1 gets Washington more balls on the slide All kinds of options. The problem is that our opponents this weekend were pretty much... for lack of a better word, inept, and we still had some close sets. I'm certain the coaching staff is looking at all the possibilities, but I think Reed's lack of consistency is a concern. Also, Weiskircher's serve can rack up points quick, so I'd want to see her stay in her current role. And Detering wears down too easily and her level of play starts dropping. I think it helps Detering when Bryana takes some pressure off her.

In fact weekends like this past, for top programs, for fans, parents and some players can be very confusing and frustrating. Cant get bent out of shape. Coaches keep it all in perspective imo. Just looking forward to league play. I think we all are.

Weiskircher mentioned something about how mentally challenging the position is in the FloVolleyball interview 2 years ago. Yeah, agreed. I too am looking forward to the conference schedule, where every week there is a good match or two to see. Woot!

Eventually, the rest of America is going to catch on as to what an incredible sport this is.
Can you imagine how little credit we'll get for being visionary geniuses?
Or genius visionaries?
Whichever sounds better.

Let's try some synonyms: lacking skill (or ability), inefficient, incapable. Truth is I was purposely being extreme in order to make my point. What exactly is Yale's, Wake Forest's, and Ohio's rankings? I don't think I was being over the top about teams ranked in the top 100.

I think it would be better to say those teams were "clearly overmatched." Or something.

My intent was NOT to disparage the teams we played this weekend; I had praised Ohio for bringing the most fight. I was simply over exaggerating my point, which is that you don't learn much from competition which doesn't challenge you. On a side note, growing up in the Northeast we used a hefty dose of sarcasm and exaggeration in conversation. However, living in the Southwest for 20 years I noticed that people here don't. Communicating via keyboard doesn't help either.

Third consecutive week a Penn State player is named a B1G Player of the Week. Simone Lee shared the honors. Good to see this team remain composed and play their game when facing opponents from different conferences. It was also good to see the reserves have some opportunities and deliver

Based on Bluepenquin's RPI futures this week (#3 with a projected W/L record of 26-4), it looks like we are in good shape for hosting a Regional.
Hopefully our non-conference opponents, namely TAMU, WVU, and Colorado, can be successful the remainder of this season (it affects PSU's RPI).
