Which 18s teams all received bids? I'm not sure they will increase the bids at BWVC. Right now there's 5 at large bids (check my math). I think they want to have those at larges to give them some flexibility. They seem to always spread them out across the country (east coast/midwest/west coast). Although bumping the BWVC up to 8 would be a nice round number and they certainly have the teams to justify. BTW, did anyone else finding it annoying that they removed the seedings from AES?

My thoughts 16s: Ultimate boys 16 gold is really good, and SP Runbird making to the finals? Really? A super shaky age group 17s: The HBC looks huge, but Ultimate is also crazy good. I will look for Ultimate to make a stir for top three in nationals over California teams 18s: Adversity dominated everyone, but I would've liked to see them play the HBC. Still, I think adversity took everyone by surprise as how much they man handled all the best teams. Those are some big hitting dudes. FYI, it was Mizuno in the 16 finals against MVC, not Runbird. Don't agree with 16's being a "shaky age group". MVC is prob better than last year, where they finished 3rd at Nationals, losing 18-16 in the semis to eventual champion Balboa Bay!

Here are the results from BWVC - Chicago...The talent this year was very deep.
Can someone with more knowledge explain the bracketing on the following scenario that played out this weekend;
Club1 is 5-0 on 2nd day and loses to AZ Fear by 2 pts in 3 & they now go into the Silver bracket (which they won) BUT CUVC, who Club1 beat goes into a crossover match, wins that & then wins a challenge match to back into the gold bracket. Why wouldn't Club1 & Adversity Black get that challenge match since their record was better & head to head (we beat them)?
W L 1 Adversity 18 Purple (GL) 9 1 2 HPSTL B18 Royal (GW) 9 2 3 SPVB B18 Mizuno (GL) 8 1 3 Bay to Bay 18-1 (NC) 8 2 5 Aspire 18 ROX (AZ) 7 2 5 CUVC 18 Boys Onslaught (CR) 8 2 5 AZ Fear 18 MS (AZ) 8 2 5 Pittsburgh 18-Black (KE) 7 3 9 Club 1 Boys 18 WBV(GL) 9 1 10 Vanguard 18 Gold Albertso 7 3 11 The HBC 18 Black (SC) 6 3 11 Indy Assault 18's (HO) 5 4 13 Vegas United 18Black (SC) 5 3 13 BRYC Boys 18 National (CH) 5 3 13 Adversity 18 Black (GL) 5 4 13 MVC B18-JAKE (BG) 5 3 17 Ultimate B18 Gold (GL) 7 2 17 MVP Academy 18 Fire (FL) 6 3 19 Ocean Bay 18 Quiksilver S 4 4 20 SPVB B18 Tornado (GL) 5 3

Club 1 was 6-0 through two days of pool play and then played Arizona Fear in a challenge match with the winner to Gold. Arizona Fear won so they went to gold and club 1 to silver just like all the other challenge matches. Its tough, you lose 1 match in two days and end up in silver but that's the why a bid is difficult to get. Club 1 is a very good team who just lost at the wrong time

Every major tournament has a flow. After the first 2 days of pool play, the top 20 teams are basically in 1 big gold bracket. If you win the challenge brackets, that gets you into the Gold Bracket quarters, semis, and finals. Silver is just a way to get more matches on day 3. Pool play allows for match loss forgiveness and the ability to stay in gold contention. Lose a challenge match and you are out from Gold. Just can't lose at the wrong time. This could have happened to all the teams. But at least you will have a good National ranking on AES, just not a bid.

Do you ever think the more midwest teams other than MVC will ever travel to Richmond for the East Coast Championships. With more of the top east coast teams travelling to Chicago there maybe more bids open. If I am right there was at least one east coast team take a bid at each age group. I also this is also a big recruiting area for East Coast schools with Coaches on every 17's and DIII at the 18's matches on the first two days.

I do not think you will see too many Midwest teams in Richmond. Most of the Midwest plays their high school season in the spring and this leaves, in some cases, less than a week for teams to prepare for the Richmond tournament.

Only if the Wisconsin teams/clubs are chasing a bid or want so more action. PA never attends due to school so the WI clubs would get a lot of Pace, Eden, Academy (NY), and other Florida squads.

PA teams do attend if they are chasing a bid. Used to go to East Coast for 5 years. Now in the midwest. Lived on the west coast as well and went to SCVA all the time.

From what I saw in the 18s bracket, 18 Purple was a force of nature. Really seemed like they saw no opposition that whole tournament especially in the last day. They definitely take the top Midwest team from the Bischoff Mizuno team. This was a seriously amazing tournament especially for 18s and I think that this may be the year that the Midwest can come back and place very high at nationals and maybe repeat or surmount what SPVB did last year. Except for the loss the Arizona Fear, Purple had a very good tournament. They played way above the level seen at Palos. SPVB looked tired and not fired up until halfway through the second set. SPVB did beat Purple at Palos but that's when Kovanic played outside and not opposite, maybe SPVB will switch him back to outside? Purple went over the block many times showing SPVB may be too undersized to go deep at nationals.

They played the smaller right side, who I don't think is bad, but not quite Maleski, and they played the smaller outside, who also while not bad, is not a starter. Still, shows the capability of AZ fear.

I really would have liked to see the HBC play Adversity Purple. Although Adversity's best lineup destroyed everything in their path, and beat CVC who took out the HBC, I think Adversity HBC would have been very interesting and would put a test to Adversity's legitimacy. However, much congrats to the Adversity team and all others who received a bid.

They seemed like an ok team but they lost to Runbird and Club 1 and didn't appear that dominating against BRYC
