CAL POLY's Lady'Stangs will be hosting their first Big West Conference Championships at Pismo Beach on the Central Coast of California in 2017.
Looks like coach Todd Rogers is getting both feet and hands totally immersed in the sport.
He has also signed five new freshman recruits to play Sand.

Pismo I remember being clean but cold.
Surfing can be fun, though I've never been good at it. Outside of HI the wet suit's needed too.

CAL POLY has set up courts on the sand at Pismo Beach, approx 20 min drive from the CAL POLY campus, for their ICA competition.
Never been to one,...only seen pictures.
Not as many palm trees as Honolulu, HI., but very nice,...same ocean.

Pacific at 35-40 latitude versus that in the tropics is significant. also, heads-up on what does not exist in Hawaii.. --- Almond Joy is one of my all-time favorite candies, too. The other being Good News. Made in CA, but supposedly HI's favorite. No lies here also.

Wait, Pismo Beach actually exists? Yes,...Ms. Smith it does. And, if you are able to read this you know we are in the Internet Age.

Hawaii, Long Beach State, CSUN, CSU Bakersfield, Cal Poly, Sacramento State WOW... When did CSU Bakersfield and Sacramento State become part of Big West? Interesting... Thanks vballfreak808... How is # 14? Is she better? Last season was the first for CSU Bakersfield and Sacramento State being in the Big West. Believe they are only in it for beach volleyball. I assume you mean Nikki Taylor for Hawaii, she has just been cleared to practice. At the end of indoor season she declared that she will not play beach volleyball in order to protect her chances of playing professionally. However, it has come to attention that she may play beach but no specific news had come out whether she is or isn't as of now.

I remember coding her when Hawaii played against UCSB at Home(Hawaii) and looking back at her stats she did amazing! I wish she wouldn't have gotten injured in the second round... Was rooting for Hawaii!

If you're used to the hustle and bustle of urban life, you might find Pismo Beach, a small beach town in the middle of nowhere, appealing. Many Hollywood types treat this place as a sort of retreat to get some script-writing and editing done away from the distractions of Los Angeles. But if you're already from nowhere or some sort of beach environment, Pismo Beach will be a disappointment. Face it -- the beach itself isn't that human-friendly, not like the beaches of Hawaii where the waters are warm and the bluest of blues. People don't visit Pismo Beach to frolic in the waters -- that would be hypothermia suicide! And Pismo gets windy and cold and often, you have to watch your step because of kelp and other ocean debris. Not warm and soft sand beneath your feet. They've got nice clam chowder but I'm used to great chowder in the SF Bay Area so it's no biggie. There's a pier where people go fishing. I imagine a lot of grown-ups come here thinking this would be a nice weekend getaway but their kids will find it utterly boring.
Having said all this, I have taken my family here several times because it's the closest thing to a nice beach town there is in my area. Santa Cruz is okay but it wouldn't be my beach destination of choice. Half Moon Beach is okay but totally boring and the town is dull. Too much kelp and ocean debris. So, I have to settle for Pismo Beach. It's just easier than flying to Hawaii. And San Diego is too far.

I think ACME, the company that makes almost every product known to man, was invented for the cartoons.

Why wouldn't they use Avila Beach? It faces South and I would think would be warmer and somewhat shielded from the wind. I haven't been there in years. Are there any VB poles?
