Would someone, in the know, explain the format for NCAA post-season play?

Do you think that number will hold for 2017 or will we perhaps see a 16 team field?

Do you think that number will hold for 2017 or will we perhaps see a 16 team field? My sources say it will be 8 teams again in 2017. Most NCAA sports get one playoff bid per 6.5 teams that have been established for 2 years. There are about 60 beach teams now (up from 50 last year), so that still is roughly 8 bids. There is also a budget cycle for expanding tournament fields, can't recall if it is every 2 years of 4 years. So we might see a jump to 10 bids in a year or three depending on growth. But don't hold your breath. I heard that the bid allocations and selection criteria is the same as last year. Details on NCAA tournament bids and teams are here: Read more: volleytalk.net/thread/68477/ncaa-beach-bids-2017#ixzz4cBMg5G00

Friday will be gusty - a little wind for Beach Volleyball is great, a lot, not so much!
Central Coast beaches in April - wonder if the Big West conference thought about that - lol

CAL POLY will need an upset>>>either LBSU or Hawai'i to make the playoffs. it's not an either/or Cal Poly would have to win the tournament, meaning beat LB/Haw 3 times, to even be considered to make the playoffs.

CAL POLY will need an upset>>>either LBSU or Hawai'i to make the playoffs. Cal Poly *cannot* make NCAA tournament this season. A .500 record is required for regional and at-large bids this year. Next year, the conference tournament winner will get an automatic bid to NCAA. Regardless of record. 2. Selection criteria for regional bids into the championship. a. Record versus regional opponents. b. Head-to-head competition. c. Results versus common opponents. d. Strength of schedule. e. Overall record (must be .500 or above). 3. Selection criteria for at-large bid into the championship. a. Head-to-head competition. b. Results versus common opponents. c. Strength of schedule. d. Overall record (must be .500 or above).
