Look beyond the seeds, look for the projected match ups in the second round if teams can hold their seeds, look to see where teams who already have bids block non-SC teams, now that SCVA is not the first bid tournament they can manipulate the bracket to help SC teams get bids. It doesn't look like SCVA took yesterday's points tournament into consideration at all. that would be a lot easier to do if they kept the seeds in AES.

I would have to agree that some of the seeding seems a little wonky at best but at least they aren't being posted the night before. One more cynical comment- How great would it be if one year the entire tournament was at the ACC, but where would the gamers go? It would sure help from a recruiting perspective. One more for anyone venturing between sites- No in/out parking at the ACC, use UBER or LYFT for about 4 bucks. That way you also save the extortion rate of $10.00 for remote parking, or more if closer, at ASC.

Can someone provide any logic to these seeds; apparently they do not take chicago finishes into account at all? Glad I'm not the only one smh at the seeds? Results from Chicago def did not get taken into account. Teams who finished higher got seeded 15 plus seeds lower then the teams who returned with no bid? That should never happen . We're a very low 2 seed and we have a bid in hand "so be it" Pakmen a 2seed is a tough out for someone ! Baja a 20th seed? 2s teams who are seeded way to high. I agree the plot will thicken and some upsets will happen day one. unless you got to gold in CHI or medaled, I'm guessing SCVA put more weight on their points tournaments. Cam Am is not going carry as much weight.

Ethan Talley from MB Surf 17s has switched over to 949, presumably to play middle. With Dane Johnson gone to Rockstar, Ethan Shinn moving back to Florida, and Cajuste currently out with a back injury, MB Surf is no longer the dominant force they used to be back in 14s and 15s.

Talley is still on the MB Surf roster on AES though not sure how up to date that is. In the event that Talley joins 949 as a middle then we should start congratulating 949 on their 3-peat right now, middle has consistently been their "weakest" position and Talley is a huge presence. Their middles have always been very good but now that they have a true dominant middle to compliment Vorenkamp... watch out

Regarding 18s seeding, just don't understand how a Yorktowne 18 team gets seeded that low. The team is solid, won a couple events and finished 2nd at Can Am to a solid Eden team.

I think we can all agree that this is the worst seeding for a bid tournament in recent memory. And it's unfortunate that it happens to be the biggest and most competitive tournament. But, it should make for a fun weekend full of upsets and great matches.

[br- ----------------- SCVA gives no respect to non california teams and didn't take any finishes on Chicago as part of their seeding analysis. Hitmen 18 elite gets waaaay underseeded and has the ability to be the first big upset Day1. HBC didn't put up much of a fight in Chicago and finished 11th losing I Believe 3 times to Midwest teams, yet get a 5 seed on their home turf....yeah I get it they finished 5 in their points tournament but Midwest teams also had Points series where they finished much higher than their seeds at scva are lower It will be fun to watch some good competition and hope to see some big upsets this wekend!

What's worse is Club 1 beat them in 2 in the silver bracket at the Chicago qualifier and they defeated Vangaurd 18 Gold in the finals of that bracket. To,add more insanely, They finished higher then Vegas United and all 3 teams were seeded night then them at this event. I'd be pissed, can you even protest/argue tthe seedlings?

My predictions for bids (based on the seeding and matchups) for 18s are MB Surf, Balboa Bay, Rise, Rockstar, Pacific Rim, 949, SMBC, Coast, HBC, and Aoakoa (dark horse). There are so many underseeded teams. Aoakoa at 41? Pakmen at 27? BRYC at 36? Hitmen at 38? Yorktowne at 42?

I looked over the 17s seedings and see Southern California teams are seeded 1-7.
I am surprised SASVBC 17 didn't get a better seed than 8 and MVVC 17 got the 9 seed and Coastal Navy 10.
Will both SASVBC 17 and MVVC 17 make it to the gold bracket?
Didn't SASVBC get to the finals of this tournament last year and have to fly home so they couldn't play and do well at nationals? Have they lost players?
I heard MVVC 17 got a new setter and I thought I remembered they made it to the semis in the Boy's Classic last year.

Since 949 would be stocked with middles, I wonder if Vorenkamp will move over to setter in some matches to give Paragas a break.
