Not sure if a thread was already made but 2017 will be an interesting year with Wisconsin, Nebraska & Minnesota losing a lot. The big question how can their newcomers step in. I would expect Penn State to be on top of the conference. I think/ would like to see Wisconsin, MSU, Michigan could be the next three but then again the michigans need to show some consistency

I got this order for next year Nebraska Penn State Wisconsin Minnesota Michigan State Michigan Ohio state Purdue Maryland Illinois Iowa Northwestern Indiana Rutgers
Interested in seeing how Illinois does, assuming there setter stays. Michigan State's got a good senior core.

Penn State Wisconsin Nebraska Minnesota Michigan State Michigan Maryland Ohio State Illinois Purdue Iowa Nothwestern Indiana Rutgers
This is just a gut feeling on the teams ranked 6-11. Depending on how certain situations shake out, I could feasibly see each team in any slot within the range

Depending on how certain situations shake out, I could feasibly see each team in any slot within the range This is about where I would put them all as well, OSU loses Sandbothe which is huge given their roster so they are a wild card and could go anywhere. Iowa might be a bit low but I honestly do not know who they pass, it would be hard to see Purdue or Illinois dropping out of the top 10

MichiganKey returnees: Crocker, Kieffer-Wright, Lerg, Lambert, Mahlke, Skjodt, Welsh Key players lost: Cole, Murphy Incoming recruits: DiSanto, Shannon, Smith This is excellent vup, thank you. For Michigan, I would add Clark as a key returnee. She was a solid back row complement to Lerg and strong server that played every set for Blue in 2016. She could easily be a starting libero at many other D1 schools, we are fortunate to have her.

If Penn State isn't atop B1G at end of season it's time for ole Russ to retire. The only team I see giving them fits may be Wisconsin.

I really think Wisconsin will be 1-2 this year. Their freshman class is so good and even though they lost Carlini, their core returning group could be enough to carry then throughout the season.
Ohio State could fall anywhere from 3-10, which I feel is nothing new for the Buckeyes. Losing Taylor Sanbothe means losing 90% of the offense (sad, but true.. probably an exaggerated percentage, but she was their rock). Maybe losing a player so dependable and go to gives the offense a chance to become more spread, more players to step up? Guess we will see. I do love me some Taylor Hughes though, IMO she's extremely underrated.
I'll give a way too early guess and say the B1G champion this year has 3-4 conference losses, IMO.

I definitely think PSU's senior class will want to end on a high note and they'll be fired up for their last season. I also think Cather could be awesome for them.
Wisconsin will definitely have some newbie kinks to work out but luckily Hilley is there to work on connections this Spring; my biggest concern is a connection with Hart if she takes the MB2 spot and Rettke (or Duello) is on the right. The back row, however, will be feisty, polished, and a year better (fingers crossed no injuries and Dodge is also healthy).
I also have a feeling Nebraska will end up with a transfer, per usual.

I still think Purdue is going to have a B1G year - they have a group of seniors who will be out to prove something!

While that sounds nice re: Wisconsin, the 2013 team didn't exactly light it up during the regular conference season before getting hot and with a nice draw in the post season. That team had a top 5 class of juniors + a freshman setter who was #1 and went 12-8 in conference. Now we are looking at a freshman setter starting plus at least two other freshmen, with the main offensive threat a sophomore. I agree, a lot of kinks. It could end up looking like the 2015 version, which finished 4th. Don't get me wrong; I think it's a great class, but freshmen are freshmen and haven't played a point in the conference. Second would be a pleasant surprise, but at the very least I think Minnesota would be in front of them and likely Nebraska.
