MSU has 7 seniors and it is quite possible that they could be the starters for the majority of the season: OH: Bailey and Kranda OPP: Tolliver M: Garvelink and Tompkins S: Minarick L: Monson Tolliver and Kranda improved last year, if they can continue to improve then MSU will be good. I think freshman Cox would get the starting libero nod but I think someone posted that she was injured in the spring. I wouldn't be surprised if Chronowski takes the second outside spot. Then they can put Kranda on the right and let Toliver be a DS. If Cox is healthy, I think the libero spot is hers. No love for Meredith Norris? I think she starts on the outside with Bailey.

I can only speak of the matches I watched, but I did watch several of MSU's last season. I thought Tolliver was a hole in backcourt and that George made a mistake trying to allow her to become 6 rotation. If I am playing MSU and Toliver is backcourt, I am forcing her to play every serve, and I am attacking whatever zone she is playing on defense, until she makes me adjust.

Tolliver's ball control is better than her blocking or attacking, IMO.

Since the bump ^ didn't have a very B1G bump effect, a WAG:
1 Penn State 2 MSU 3 Minnesota 4 Nebraska 5 Wisconsin 6 Michigan 6 Iowa 8 OSU 8 Illinois 8 Purdue 11 Maryland 12 Indiana 13 Northwestern 14 Rutgers
Razor thin margin in 6-10 may be decided by which teams can stay healthy, injury-free.

Um. Interesting. Based on where these teams are now, I see more of this: 1 Penn State 2 Nebraska 3 Michigan State 4 Minnesota 5 Purdue 6 Wisconsin 7 Michigan 8 Ohio State 9 Maryland 10 Iowa 11 Illinois 12 Northwestern 13 Indiana 14 Rutgers

What's next, Rutgers moving up?

I don't mean to sound ignorant, I actually know very little about MSU, but why is it that everyone thinks that MSU will have a big jump this season? I know they lost Reinig, but is it because they're returning most everyone else? Help me to understand:)

Returning so many core pieces and more importantly, Nebraska/Minnesota/Wisconsin LOSING so many core pieces should theoretically slide Michigan St. up the rankings a slot or two.

Fiterer is a much larger loss than Reinig. Oh yeah I didn't even think about Fitterer. I mean I can see why we can consider them a strong contender for at the very least a top half finish this season but I guess I just don't get why so many people have them finishing second behind PSU when they haven't yet shown the ability to play consistently across a full season.

PSU is my pick to win the B10. But if NE can take the first game of the B10 Season against them, I think that NE might be able to catch PSU by seasons end. PSU should get off to a great start by having 6 of their first 8 games at home. So, NE won at PSU and is hanging in front with them. The block was a little slow and low -> not getting the touches against Purdue, and it all most cost them. The biggest test of many left is probably TOSU; as the Huskers always seem to have trouble with them, and Maryland(twice) has also turned it up a notch. The B1G - can't afford to take a 'night off'. For PSU - It looks like it will come down to that last match with MN.
