So are we going 5-1 with Miller? If so, Simo plays libero and Muno is utility. As much as I want Muno to have a permanent spot, my guess is she's the solution if Miller doesn't come through as the main setter or she could fill the libero jersey if needed.
Or Sponcil could play S/OPP, right? Rotate Miller in the back row when Sponcil is up front.

Can't wait to see this team play in person. I'm going to the inter-squad scrimmage this Saturday @ 1:00 pm at JWC.

Who is the next Karsta Lowe at UCLA? it WAS Van Winden. IMO she has the most offensive potential of any UCLA recruit in at least a decade, including this 2017 class....Karsta Lowe not withstanding.

Rachael Kidder was a 2009 recruit and she turned out to be a huge offensive weapon for UCLA. I am still pissed at AB for not red shirting her in her first year and instead used her as a blocking sub for Lauren Cook. Don't understand why UCLA cosches don't redshirt players for development. Frager and Gates should have redshirted their first year

Light could be the next Karsta Lowe. A 6'5" OH who has been overshadowed by May and Mosser in this class. Light has the potential to be one of the best in country after her 4 years if she develops right.
May is the real deal, and Mosser is very exciting to watch. I would take May over TVW. UCLA will be very good this year, but will have some ups and downs because of their youth.

Totally agreed Can't believe after all these years, the best setter Is still Van Orden in the Sealy's era

Their youth probably wouldn't be as noticeable if they had a top notch setter. Miller was supposed to be that but hasn't shown it. I think Muno could have been that but Sealy wasted an entire year of development last year for her by not letting her set. Muno could be an elite libero or setter, and if she was on year 3 in her development at anything, she might have gotten there. Unfortunately, when Sealy stopped playing her at right side last year, he didn't think to himself, "Wow I may need this kid to set next year, I should probably work on that every day instead of having her be a backup."

I never got how Muno was recruited as a setter but then continued to be a hitter in high school and club. How many competitive matches had Muno set before coming to UCLA? A couple of chances to run a 6-2 when Mizuno wanted to let Iosia hit? And then she's supposed to START in the PAC-12 right away? And with Miller coming in the year after it (and now 2 more in 2018) it just never seemed like a coherent plan to me.
