Who will be starting MB this season? Gates for sure. Probably a freshman for the other position.

Definitely not in the middle. I think she'll continue to be a reserve pin hitter (unless UCLA runs a 6-2, in which case she'd compete for playing time with one of the freshmen).

Their roster has Rogers listed as an OH. But, they also have Muno as a Setter, and Sponcil as an OH. I don't think either of those are etched in stone.

What does that mean for 2018 commit Hawley Harrer? also a setter. I never understood the Harrer choice. She was a project. I don't see Chang putting up much resistance as a blocker. She will get lots of blocking opportunities in a 5-1 if the Pac 12 coaches are smart Doesnt seem to bother SSS at Minny, Iosia at Hawaii, didn't bother Courtney at Washington, Collins at Texas, Snuka at Arizona etc, etc, etc.....

That say more about coaching than their blocking. SSS is actually a decent sized blocker. The rest of that group should have had to block every ball when they are in the front row.

Her setting is amazing, but the non-setting stuff is a work-in-progress.

Having seen both Chang and Lauren Van Orden block, Chang is a much better blocker than Van Orden. And UCLA won a national championship with Van Orden setting, so the blocking point is pointless.
My guess at starting lineup would be 6-2, Muno and Miller setting, Buechler outside with whoever is the better passer between Mosser and May, RS Light and worse passer Mosser or May, middles Gates and Ryan, Sponcil at libero.
Or if they want to get really good ball control, Sponcil on the left with Buechler, and Simo at libero.

Put May on the right. May has played OPP for USA stuff, so she is able to play there and do well.

Is Sealey running a traditional 6-2 this year? Last year the OHs didn't pass or play back row. The OPPs (Van Winden and Buechler) played all around and Formico played back row/serves for Anderson/Lawless, right?

I could see them doing something similar to this, with May and Buechler the 6 rotation right sides, and Mosser and Light playing FR on the left. I don't think Sealy trusts any of his setters enough to run a 5-1 with them.
