Hawaii's expected to win conference every single year? Really? What planet do you live on? I maybe thought Hawaii would win a BYU-less WAC every single year. Would have surprised me if they hadn't. I never expected Hawaii to win the Big West EVERY SINGLE YEAR. And I'd be surprised as heck if they did. I think it would be reasonable to assert that Hawaii should be in the hunt for a conference title every single year, and even that they win it many years. IF you let yourself get too carried away with your expectations, then you also get too carried away with your criticisms of the team and its coaches. PS: Hawaii's last national championship was in the '80's. That's a lot of years of Shoji coaching without one. If that's your expectation, you are living in lala land. Well we must both be in some sort of lala land because you seem to think that we don’t need to AT LEAST win the Big West every single year to be considered a contender for even a regional appearance. And you’re right, he didn’t win one since the 80’s but before this year, Hawai’i has almost never been in danger of not making the post season and hasn’t bowed out in the first round. My expectations are only set by the tradition of the program and the teams that came before it. If you let yourself get carried away by how much you want the program to be great again then you will also be in danger of over estimating the performance of the team and it’s coaches. The effort was there, but it needs to be backed with execution. Hawaii made the tournament this year without winning the Big West, finishing the regular season with a top 40 RPI. They did that without a go to OH terminator on the outside, something that has been a staple of past Wahine teams. They also did it with a first year coaching staff. Shoji teams didn't make regionals every year, even with a go to OH terminator. Its a little early to be drawing too many conclusions or too many comparisons.

She’s keeps on swinging and that’s all you can ask for

Her errors usually skyrocket in the first or second set. But, I agree that we need a type of hitter who is powerful for a long time. Granato to me gets weaker as the game progresses, evident by the 5 set matches this season, where she got 1 or 2 kills with some errors (maybe excluding Baylor).

And here comes the teaming up. 🤣 but hey when hawaii and all the other has beens goes to the NIVC at least you all can take comfort in the fact that hawaii can most likely win that. Theres no crying in volley talk! You are just spewing nonsense. Just support the damn team. If NOT...go somewhere else. We are Hawaii fans, we will stand by them win or lose...not just jump on the bandwagon when they're winning and trash them when they're not. Get clue!!! NIVC CHAAAAAAAAMPS! In the meantime.....GO BIG RED!

All teams go through cycles, and Hawaii is no exception. Robyn did a great job in getting this team to the playoffs where they happened to run into a very hot team that also happened to take down Washington the next night. Robyn's a great competitor and she'll develop this team over time to reflect that. Wait for it. You'll like what you see.

This team did about exactly as I expected them to do this year, so that's all I can ask for. If they at least meet my expectations each year, then I'll be happy and continue to watch them. Watching them can be frustrating, but that's what makes a good team to watch. I feel sorry for Penn State fans because while I want my team to win, I don't want them to crush every opponent because that's boring. Apart from Nebraska, Penn State destroyed almost every team this season, so it would have been really boring to watch. The roller coaster that Hawai'i is on is kind of fun.

It was a fun 2017 season. Can’t wait for next year. Excited about what the newcomer(s) will bring to the table.

Despite all their shortcomings, the Hawaii 2017 team played competitively in every match, except against San Diego and Utah. I have no idea what to expect next year. I can only hope for some quality transfers, Trinity Castaneda surprises, and for the returning players to step up.

It was a fun 2017 season. Can’t wait for next year. Excited about what the newcomer(s) will bring to the table. I've been a fan of and have been watching UH Wahine Volleyball since I moved back to Hawaii in 1987 and have been a season ticket holder about half that time. Over that span of time, with all the different senior classes that have came and went, I have to say that this years seniors has been my favorite bunch of seniors! They weren't as successful in the w/l column but for some reason they won my heart! I'm going to miss them a bunch!

There are no more indoor crossovers onto the Beach team. The only two (former) indoor players on the roster are Mags and Baby G.
Is this the end of the crossovers? If so, in a way it's too bad because I know a lot of players still like the idea of going to a school where they have potential to play both beach and indoor. Beach is becoming more specialized but there are still plenty of players who want to play both.

I think its best that they cut off the crossovers. Some of the indoor girls on the beach team should not be on the beach team. They are not even close to making the flights. Some are there just to hang out and stuff. They are also taking up spots/space/and practice time from players who are full time beach players.
Some fans like to think being on the beach team will help with their indoor game...however, it is not Jeff Hall's job nor it is purpose of having a beach team is to improve the game of the indoor players.
If the indoor players think some of the beach training will help them, then they can implement them and use those training methods on their own time.
