The best Xmas present Robyn can receive is to have Lexi Sun decide to transfer over to the Wahine. She can’t pass to save her life.

I’d like to see more local girls staying in Hawaii too though players like Adora Anae, even Choy they all played club with majority of the Wahine team at ‘Imi ‘Ike. They would have contributed a lot to UH.
But I understand a lot of girls wanna get off the island, I know that’s how I felt after I graduated high school.

I'm eager to see the development of Hawaii's returning players. If their development throughout the course of this season is any indication of how they'll develop during the off season, I'm pretty optimistic. I will say, I was worried at how Robyn would do, but she has shown she can be emotional, she can be reserved, she can be pissed, but she genuinely has passion for Hawaii and the volleyball culture.

I too, am eager to see how players like Howling and Williams develop during the off season. The development of Burns during the season just shows that Robyn and Angelica can coach. Burns truly surprised me at how much she has improved since 2016. The way Robyn used her players, showed me that she will become an outstanding coach for the Wahine, all she needs are the players. That is where the only question for Robyn is, as a coach, can she recruit the players she needs and wants. I have no doubt she can, but time will tell. When this proves true, I can see the Wahine being a real player again, in the NCAA Tournament Championship picture once again.

As much as a good coach can be, having gifted players are important. Just as important is the development of these players, in Hawaii's case, they always need to develop players, red shirt them, etc., while the big timers have their freshmen starting ahead of seniors...on a yearly basis. I mean, looking at history, has there been any team that has won the national championship without multiple top25 recruits?

I believe the last time that was ever done, is when the Wahine last won a National Championship. I do not believe that team had any Top 25 recruits on that team. The reason they won the National Championship was that they played as a team. All playing for one another. If I am not mistaken, they were quite undersized, also. I still believe a team can be a little undersized, but if play as a team, all for one, and one for all, that type of team can still win a National Championship, but it has to be a very special kind of team.

Agreed. Team, chemistry is so important. The 2009 Hawaii team was special and very undersized with 6'0 Kaufman, 5'10 Mafua, 5'11 Cubi-Otineru, and 5'9 Danielson, but that was a team that had two very well awesome rounded vball players in Otineru and Danielson.

Yes, that was a very special team. Also, Cubi-Otineru, and Danielson, both of them could play some mean back row. From what Robyn has been saying, those are the kinds of players that she is looking for. Outside hitters, and Opposites who can play some mean back row. besides putting the ball down offensively. That is why I feel, Robyn is so high on Ross, cause that girl is developing into a Cubi-Otineru type of player. Now all Robyn has to do is find another Danielson somewhere. There is a girl at Iolani who is developing into a Danielson type of player, but she is only a Sophomore, soon to be a Junior. Hoping she decides to be a Wahine when she is done with High School.

Been away from vT for Just over one wk.; ONLY on a Na Wahine thread could over 3-4 whole pages of posts be dedicated to an upcoming(!) season of UH Vball next year. Amazing!

Teee Williams was on that team, she was the #1 recruit in the country. She was a sophomore and the NCAA Player of the Year that year. Of course she sat the year before out.

If Burns had that natural VB IQ & Instinct, can you imagine how fierce she would be as a MB??!!! I'm really looking forward to seeing the development of Sophia Howling! She jumps well, just looks lost at times when she's out there. Go Bows!
