It's nice that the incoming freshman get to go on this trip. Word from inside the gym is that Paige Jones is making a bit of a splash.

From the Michigan VB website: "Match vs. Italian Junior National Team -- After dropping the first two sets to start the match, the Wolverines rallied to take sets three and four before clinching a deciding fifth set by a 15-13 score to win its first contest abroad, 3-2 (19-25, 24-26, 25-19, 25-20, 15-13). Senior Carly Skjodt led the Wolverines with 18 kills for the day, while freshman Paige Jones made a splash in her debut with a team-leading .538 attack percentage and eight kills. Redshirt junior Cori Crocker and sophomore Kiara Shannon led the blocking effort with three blocks apiece, and senior libero Jenna Lerg anchored the back row with 17 digs. From the service line, Skjodt led the Wolverines with three aces, while sophomore Jacqueline DiSanto added two." Would love to see the box score and set lineups. From the video posted on Twitter, O'Leary was setting on match point in S5. Did she come in for Mac after the first two sets? That would be similar to what we saw against Pitt in the spring season. And welcome Paige Jones! She might give us room to move Wetterstrom to RS, filling a huge hole. 2018 is looking up!

A live stream would be like gold right now! A lot of excitement around Michigan volleyball. The Mac/O’Leary battle is far from over, crazy to have two setters of this caliber in the gym.

After the return from Europe, finally a schedule release: mgoblue.com/schedule.aspx?path=wvballAt first glance the non-con seems too easy but they do have High Point, LSU, CSU and a curious home and home with Notre Dame. More challenging is having to play Nebraska, Wisconsin and Penn State twice and Minnesota on the road. A couple of unexpected wins out of that batch would serve our tournament hopes well. October 26 against Wisconsin is the highlight match, the return of Tiffany Clark.

Seems like the easier teams are front-loaded though...might be a good way to work freshmen into the lineup and get everything gelled before they face some challenging non-cons and then the cruel gauntlet that is Big-10 play.

Maybe they should put that sign on the Crisler Center since they just announced they will be playing five games there this season.

Will be interesting to see how many turn out for the matches at Crisler. We had a huge turnout of 8100 last season against OSU. But it was the only match played there, and was promoted and timed well. Good turnouts can help the case to speed up the building of a new facility.

Welcome Disc808 ! First off Ann Arbor is a great college town, filled with a diverse mix of aging hippies, young hipsters and everything in between. Excellent food scene and a million things to do and see. Michigan and Stanford have a bit of history together, as I'm sure you're well aware. Our sophomore DS Jacqueline DiSanto grew up in the shadow of the Stanford campus. I would direct you to the OP on page 1 to get a preview of what this season has in store. We have one legitimate AA stud OH in Carly Skjodt who is a fierce competitor and a joy to watch. We have a huge class of recruits coming in this year that are loaded with potential. The big storyline for Michigan this fall is who will claim the starting spot at setter. Mackenzi Welsh is a talented, SPVB trained junior who has started since the day she arrived on campus. But she is being pushed by heralded freshman Erin O'leary, who started school in January and made a big impression in the spring season. Cliff Keen is a sweaty bandbox of a gym that is desperately in need of replacement. I have a soft spot for it though and you do sit right on top of the court. It's a tough place to play for opponents, especially when its sold out. As noted above, the team is playing 5 of its premiere opponents this season at Crisler, home of the basketball teams. Its a tremendous atmosphere if the place gets filled like it did for OSU last year. Attendance has been on the rise and last season was the first I can recall that reserved season tickets sold out. You will have to say hello to Northern lights and I this fall. We have a great time at the home matches, solving the worlds problems and complaining about @allamerican11 .
