The better team won last night. Sure there were bad calls, but Purdue shot them selves in the foot in the 3rd and 4th sets. The official that looked at the replays is something else. She officiated another match earlier in the season and did not know how to work the replay remote. I hope Purdue can get the bad taste in their mouth out tonight against Northwestern. Northwestern will also be a tough opponent.

Purdue showed a lot of fight last night but I worry about this 2-passer serve receive. And still need a lot more from Cleveland and Newton.
Where Purdue is guaranteeing wins is from the service line. They have so many great servers this year that are continuously putting teams out of system. Not every B1G team has a Poulter who can put up a hittable ball from the bleachers.

They need to try to see how Otec does as a 6-rotation player to start. Shondell kept her in for ball control a little bit last night - having her and Peters alongside with Hornung will help - yeah I know she’s not 6’3 like Cleveland but 5 kills for your OH in a 4 set match isn’t gonna cut it. Cleveland will get better no doubt but it would be interesting to see Otec play.
Mohler was an absolute stud last night - she had some fantastic blocks - if they would have pulled it off she should have been a front runner for DPOW.

Agreed on Otec, though would keep Cleveland and sit Newton. Newton unfortunately seems to play a very mental game; a few of those runs the Illini went on occurred due to Newton's (lack of) play. She's definitely a hard-hitter but looks lost out there, and often.

It’s nice to have these options - it’s unfortunate they are so young.
Imagine the depth we would have had with Alexa Smith and Christina Ambrose as senior OHs.
Alas. They all show massive potential, I think the first Big Ten match jitters got to them.
Patiently waiting the match against Northwestern, this is a must win.
If Otec and Newton are the OHs, we can move Cleveland back to her natural position at MB - is Joiner redshirting?

None of the freshman are redshirting, is what Coach Shondell said in the first or second week of the season. But yeah agree about Ambrose/Smith. I know Smith left to be closer to home. No she about Ambrose though. Guessing it was the same thing.

Watching the match. What’s up with that side of Belin. Whoever starts on the camera views’s left side has an atrocious first part of the set.
Reisinger impressing.

What does everyone think is the likelihood that Purdue can reach or surpass 20 wins this season? Purdue has beaten teams ranked lower than them and been beaten by those ranked higher than them. The Michigan’s this weekend will be a tough weekend on the road. Hopefully Purdue will be able to grind out A win at least.

Broken record - but they have to pass. It breaks down and they look terrible. In system I noticed against Illinois Bush was feeding the middles. That’s key.

I haven’t looked at the stats lately but you’re right. Bush sets too much to Cleveland and Atkinson. Mohler and Cuttino can get offensive points too. They do very well defensively...blocking. I don’t know very much about volleyball...but I think one of the Shondells said that the passing this year is as good as 2011. I think back then we had Cramer and company. That was a very good year.

Purdue was known for their defense - oh the days of Cramer, Ehlers, Fox, Miller was a good time.

I was expecting the split this weekend - glad they were able to rebound after that Michigan loss. Penn State at home up next. If Ohio state can take them on this team can as well!
