I was expecting the split this weekend - glad they were able to rebound after that Michigan loss. Penn State at home up next. If Ohio state can take them on this team can as well! But PSU now has Reed back in the lineup. Look at her stats this weekend.

I'll bring this thread back, Purdue is now on a 5 game winning streak after a somewhat historic comeback @penn State, Purdue is definitely in the tournament (my goal for the season) and looking to earn a hosting spot. Remaining games are: MSU Indiana @ Wisconsin @ Minnesota Nebraska Iowa @ Indiana @ Illinois
I would predict the boilers to go 4-4 over this stretch, but that still requires quality play from Purdue. Even then, I"m not sure finishing 4-4 will earn a hosting spot, I feel like they need to close 5-3 for that to happen.
Am I wrong?

Will Peters be libero again or do they keep Hornung in the jersey?

Will Peters be libero again or do they keep Hornung in the jersey? I liked Hornung in the jersey but maybe I'm just nostalgic about her baller club days.

I think it’s the passing of the torch, based on serve receive data. Peters is a senior but she is being outperformed unfortunately. The competition at this spot will only help them.

It's sad too, because we've seen Brooke play some amazing matches (wisky and minny last year). It's hard to argue though, Purdue looked like a better team with Mo in against Penn State, even if that wasn't just Peters.

I have the same sentiments - she is fearless and I love that she goes for everything. She’s a gamer and seems to be a great teammate.

It’s a good day for Boiler nation! Loved reading about the recruits on Twitter. I have a question though for everyone: How likely will Megan Renner be a starter setter for Purdue next year or years to come? She’s considerably taller than Bush. Coach Shondell likened her to Renata Dargan and that is high praise. Bush has been good for us.

But I imagine she's going to see some court time. Actually, the way Coach Shondell spoke of all the new recruits, I'm excited but curious as who they replace if they start next year? We only truly have to replace Atkinson as I'm convinced Hornung secured the libero spot for the future.

Crazy to be thinking about next year already - but these recruit announcements are pretty exciting! Atkinson will be a huge loss, and will be replaced by committee. They just need to put someone there with decent size and a good block. With Joiner there and the incoming OH Ellis, Will Cleveland transition out from the OH spot? If so, she is a likely candidate for the OPP spot - good size and terrific block. I think she struggles with left side out of system swings, which obviously makes sense considering it’s a new position for her.
If don’t redshirt Renner, it will definitely be interesting - at 6’2 and a lefty, she is ideal for a 5-1, but with Bush I could see them doing a 6-2, Renner setting/hitting like she does right now in HS. However, with the # of subs available and no OH being able to play 6 rotations, this may not be feasible.
The good news is that there will be depth at virtually every position.

Ok... 2 more matches remaining - Illinois and Indiana - while they are safely in the tournament, a victory over Indiana will definitely help with confidence. As for Illinois - would love if they could walk away with that victory but it’s at Huff. However, I’ve learned to not discount away matches with this team cuz they are more than capable of a W there.
A win at Illinois would help their seeding cause - gonna be a fun one!

I hope that the seniors can will their team to a win. In all the years that they have been here, they have not played at home tournament time. It would be nice to have them host and advance to the Sweet 16 a little bit easier. Purdue has lost in the second round too many times and it would be a step forward to advance to the round of 16 at least this year. But like you said, Purdue has been playing better away. Maybe it would be just as good for them to travel for the tournament.
