Based on social media, it looks like Iowa is interested in transfer Tyler Spriggs (SR - OH - Arizona). They followed her on Instagram a little while ago. She took a visit to Hawaii, mentioned on this forum that she didn't want to go there. She has interest with Long Beach State as well. She was teammates with M. Buzzerio so there is that connection. Interesting! Any update on interest for Spriggs? Was wondering same. This intrigued me a bit. As I see it, the ideal transfer would be someone with only a year of eligibility left (my thought process: 15 on roster for next year so a "space" open, only graduating 3 after 2018 and hefty, talented 2019 class coming in) and quality players in that category are few and far between so perhaps that was one key area of possible interest in Spriggs. Seems to me the ultimate one-year transfer for the Hawks would be an experienced middle to complement our youth at that position next year. But like I said...that is perhaps hard to find...but we found O'Neill for similar scenario so not impossible. Will already be talented corps of OHs next year (Louis, Hughes, "Big" Buzz and Hoye) so adding Spriggs to the mix would be interesting if that happened.

Love it! “Little” Buzz wouldn’t be appropriate here so I still like Baby Buzz Not that we should read too much into this type of stuff but it does say “Setter” and not “Setter / Right Side”... HA! I agree..."little" just didn't work for me, either. And I absolutely noticed same about "setter" and also how Bond described her in the story itself. Yes, he was very pointed about how she offered certain qualities as a front row setter... it would be interesting to see playing around with a 5-2 sometime in the future! We know Bond likes having a strong right side block, seeing how quick he was to go to Alm from the bench when Coyle’s size might not cut it.

This is being streamed on Iowa State's volleyball Facebook page...FYI. Taylor Louis on sidelines not dressed. I was wondering if Louis was injured when she wasn’t in the tweet when Big Buzz (that still feels wrong...) broke the blocking shovel. I wondered same, actually (you may not believe that but I really did!). Hope it's nothing too serious. And for what it's worth, she was standing on the sidelines with the players the whole match...so whatever it is, she at least wasn't on crutches, in a boot, etc. Hope nothing too serious. We need you, Taylor! I was able to watch a pretty big chunk of the match. Some observations: - Johnston played libero the entire match so I am taking that as foreshadowing of where Bond's head is related to that position in the fall (to me, it was between Johnston and Kelly...not that Slagle or Hine aren't possibilities but thought unlikely for Frosh to move into that). I have to say I was quite impressed with what I saw from Halle. She is definitely long and that reach was quite beneficial several times. Thought she anticipated very well. I was encourged because replacing Amazing Annika is a tall task. - Obviously, without services of Louis, OHs were M Buzzerio and Hoye and they both played all 6 rotations. Thought both did nice job. Buzz mixes up her shots well (have always thought she is a smart player) but was a little inconsistent. Her backrow play was pretty solid. The standout factor to me about her was her jump serve. WOW! Very consistent, placed well and had some big time heat on it. There was a stretch when she served 4 or 5 in a row that bascially were all either untouched or shanked by ISU receivers. I loved Bond's reference to the team saying "Buzz is back" in that recent article, citing her confidence level. This is some very valuable court time for her this spring. - Have to say that Hoye really impressed me! Haven't seen any sort of stats but have to think that she was the Iowa kill leader this match. She is fearless and was hitting aggressively. Tooled the block a ton. Plus, I absolutely LOVE Cali's on-court enthusiasm. It is clearly contagious. Assuming Louis is back in the fall and adding Griere Hughes to the mix, this is a talented OH corps for the Hawks in 2018 and will be a heckuva competitive practice gym on the left! - Still feel that Coyle and Orr just haven't "fully connected" yet and we need that to continue to gel. Coyle is a massive X-factor to me and we need her firing away from the right like we saw so consistently in 2016. - Orr continues to grow. I did feel like both her placement and selection skills have improved and that she is truly making this team "hers." That leadership will only be solidified when so many newbies join us in the fall. I have confidence that will happen. She is a fierce competitor and will feel different for her to have another setter pushing her next year (Baby Buzz). Really like Brie a lot. - Middles were (get this) O'Neill and Janota! I had been wondering how we were going to swing a spring season with no middles so thanks to both Kelsey and Jess for hanging around to help out (and bet it's kinda fun for them, too). They were both blocking and running that beautiful slide effectively. That's great but made me more anxious about having three first-year middles in the fall. Will be interesting to see who steps up there...we need that to happen and fast. To be honest, I am surprised that not one of those 3 started early in IC to be able to get valuable spring experience. So, there you go. Random thoughts from watching just a piece of one spring match! GO HAWKS!

Adding to our 2020 class... Audrey Black from Colorado Momentum!!
Audrey is a 6’3 OH/RS with a 10’ approach touch, she plays on Momentum’s “16 Rachel” team and is a clubmate of fellow ‘20 commit Leanne Lowry (Momentum 18 Staci).
Welcome to the Hawkeye family Audrey!

I'm trying to reconcile this observation with the following quote from an article in today's Lincoln paper about the Nebraska spring season: Iowa apparently used two players who have used up their eligibility in a match against "outside competition", while Coach Cook (or the LJS writer) thinks this is an NCAA violation. Which is correct? I honestly don’t know either way!

Pretty sure you are spot on with this. I have known other teams who have had fourth-year seniors play in spring matches as well.

Makes sense to me. Hunter would have already participated in four spring seasons at this point. I wonder if the same analysis would apply to players that enroll in January and participate in spring contests prior to their first fall season?

Neither Little nor Baby Buzz is apropos. There's another Buzz behind her. Congrats #3 Buzz! Who knew! So, what are our options? References using first names seem too informal and personal.
