"In addition to the recruiting model, the Council eliminated restrictions on the sale of alcohol at Division I championships." -- [as proposed by the Fan Experience Committee]

Does this prohibit the PSA from calling coaches of college programs?

It's been discussed at length in other threads, but this is going to be an absolute mess.

From the linked original article, it appears they expect additional legislation to come in future years (bolded text mine):
"They are considered a first step toward regulating a recruiting process that can begin in middle school — and sometimes earlier. The Student-Athlete Experience Committee will continue to examine the recruiting environment, with communications (telephone, email, text), verbal and written offers, and off-campus contacts on the agenda for the next phase."

Is it just me, or does this push the recruiting model even more towards intermediaries, which I would think would be counter to intentions?

Is it just me, or does this push the recruiting model even more towards intermediaries, which I would think would be counter to intentions? That is exactly what it's going to do. I'm excited to see what they come up with in a few years when freshmen and sophomores are still committing early. There are some club coaches and directors out there who just gained a ton more power in the process.

Sophomores will now commit without ever having face-to-face contact with their future coach.

Am I missing something? The major change I see is that they are going to allow official visits one year earlier. And that they are banning coaches from escorting you around during unofficial visits. Other than that, it bans active recruiting at camps but the coach could still call the club and tell the club that they are REALLY interested in Jane Doe after seeing her at the camp.
