And now the barrage of early commit comments. You sure missed the mark with this comment, in spite of your stance on the topic.

I think is great for Minnesota and had she committed to Wisconsin I’d be ecstatic, but I think the Sun situation and her comments about committing at a young age before knowing what’s important to her makes me question if this is a good direction for the sport (yes, I know other women’s sports like softball are just as bad).
I can only imagine making sure you scoop up a scholarship offer before they’re taken but damn, so much can change between 8th grade and signing an NLI.

This is probably moving the thread off-topic some, and there's another general thread on the recruiting changes, but since you mentioned softball, wanted to mention that sport won't be "as bad" going forward since I believe that's the one sport that, as part of the recruiting rule changes just passed, asked to follow the tougher rules set up by/ for lacrosse last season that doesn't allow ANY recruiting contact (including through clubs and high school coaches) until Sept. 1st of a student-athlete's junior year.

I get the concern about a commitment at this age but can we at least acknowledge the specific circumstances: Her hometown team, which she probably knows well because sees it play ten times or more a season, is a fantastic team with one of the best coaches in the country and they play to sold-out crowds of knowledgeable fans. Why wouldn't she commit?

I wonder if she would affect the scholarship situation. Given who her dad is she surely doesn't need a full ride. Would she give it to a more "needy" player who will help the team as much similar to what Magic Johnson did so the Lakers could sign Terry Teagle in 1990? With her trajectory she should be a 4 year starter.

And now the barrage of early commit comments. Minny will be really, really good in 2024 2023 looks to be potentially even better on paper.

With her trajectory she should be a 4 year starter. There are lots of players in all sports who don’t ‘need’ scholarships. It shouldn’t be up to them to decide how to help the team. That’s the coaches job to manage the scholarships. And professional sports is a different beast than college... it’s not fair to compare situations.
