Interesting, Zaun has a block, anyone know if they are split blocking? Zaun has in the past.

When Zaun loses this match, what excuses are we gonna make up?

When Zaun loses this match, what excuses are we gonna make up? Well, it WAS nice to see him take a set without Ed on the court......

Any reports of Zaun tearing down nets? Throwing things in the Hudson? Ed advances, Eric loses to high level qualifying team.

Didn’t get to see any of their matches but assuming Tim was his same steady self this is a big indictment on Zaun. Taylor can get to a final with Tim in Austin but Zaun can’t win a match? Zaun just doesn’t make many plays in the back and he’s a one trick pony offensively who makes far too many errors trying to force his one trick.

I didn't see a lot of their matches, but did see enough to know Ed had two roles on that team, playing high-level VB AND playing psychologist, to keep a partner who's a classic Folder from crashing at the first sign of pressure and subbing-in some Q32 picnic player who looks just like him but can't find the court on offense and watches playable balls hit the sand.

I saw Eric Zaun and he kept saying “don’t smile. It’s a sign of weakness”

Tie down everything, Zaun loses first set, could go 0-2 with what was believed to be his best partner yet. I called it

So are we underestimating Ed Ratledge? He is going to have a very Ratledge/Zaun like finish with a different partner.
Also, does this mean that Zaun does not have good setting hands?

Probably does but there is just so little good young talent on the men's side. Casebeer/Priddy were split blocking some of the time in Game 1, before it could have been down to fatigue. I thought that was interesting. Also he dug two hits from Chase, one a weak side cross court, that were just unreal. In terms of digging balls I think its Nick and Taylor, then possibly Reid next

I'm not even sure where Zany Zaun goes now if Tim turns elsewhere, Field would mean qualifier time which I'm sure Zaun doesn't want any part of. Huge problem is his ego got so big from people (like myself) pumping him up and decent finishes with Ed. His next move needs to be smart because he might be driving that van back to Jersey if he doesn't start producing on whatever promise we saw.

Overheard he never practiced with Tim before this event.

Overheard he never practiced with Tim before this event. Thats a reasonable excuse for losing to Ricardo/Chaim, but Kyle/Myles? Taylor Crabb also hadn't practiced with Tim and they did just fine. Eric needs to regroup, get his ego under control and focus on building a long term partnership with someone like Tim/Stafford for this entire year. Jumping around is not going to get him anything and running back to Ed, which is what I expect, also won't.
