If Haley has hard evidence, e.g. emails or voicemails of USC "...repeatedly demanding that he “retire” even before his contract expired, referring to him as being in his “twilight years,” “archaic,” and “old,” and expressing a desire for a younger coach." then he's going to get PAID and Donna's head will probably roll off the chopping block.
If he doesn't have hard evidence, he'll probably still get a small settlement just because USC wants the issue to go away. Tough to prove without emails, voicemails, etc.

I have no knowledge about the specifics of this case but I think a larger argument about "age discrimination" should be had in these types of cases. Perhaps my youth is showing but honestly, shouldn't it be expected? I mean, I think it's one thing if he was winning national championships every other year like Penn State or built a volleyball environment that was the envy of every program in the country like Nebraska, but he's not. I don't think Mick was unsuccessful, but the last few years of his tenure was riddled with transfers and disappointing seasons. Is it really all that wrong for the administration to want new blood, even if that comes in the form of age? The personnel issues alone are more than enough reason not to renew his contract. And he's never going to get the chance to benefit from the randomness of a jury.

The Tyndall scandal is just heating up and will be in the national news for weeks or even months once the legal wheels get turning and how many hundreds of millions dollars USC is going to have to pay out. And Tyndall relates to Mick Haley how?

And Tyndall relates to Mick Haley how? The USC administration is out of control. So Mick should just get his contract renewed and have the job until he feels like quitting because the USC administration was possibly negligent in a matter completely unrelated to the volleyball program? yeah, ok.

Tough to prove without emails, voicemails, etc. The SWA spent a lot of effort digging up stuff in preparation for not renewing Mick's contract, mostly stuff about less than ideal behaviors and relationships and some lack of sharing correct info. Not earth-shattering, but probably sufficient to justify the decision. In California, mandatory arbitration clauses in employment contracts are not enforceable for age discrimination claims. Mick has the option to file this as a civil lawsuit. The fact that he didn't suggests to me that there are no emails, voicemails, etc.

WhAT ABOUT THE WASHINGTON FOOTBALL COACH THAT WAS UNLOADED ON USC WHO HAS SERIOUS ISSUES? You mean the guy who cheated on his wife, drank himself senseless, tried to blame everyone but himself for his problems, and oh yeah, lost his $30 million dollar wrongful termination claim against USC? ok, what about him?

They were both jackasses to each other.

I'd like to know what this alleged Culture of Yutes looks and feels like on USC's campus.

Certainly to be expected in/out of USC. 2014 and 2016 were disappointing, but you have to go back to 2008 to find another. I think a couple average seasons a decade is pretty ok even for USC standards. USC did not hire someone that can/will win them championships every other year.

He won't get a penny. The burden of proof is all on him; unless he has witnesses or any of the AD's alleged ageist comments in writing, I don't think he has anything substantial to argue. USC had every right to non-renew his expiring contract.

I read someone saying he was fired because USC wasn't getting any chanpionships. Do people not realize how hard it is to even get there no matter how gfood your team is?
Mick was still getting plenty of wins each season and getting the top recruits.

What's the chance that bigfan is actually the Volleytalk username of Mick Haley?
