Its interesting to me that Penn State will have, on average, 1+1/2 freshman on the court at any given time whereas Minnesota may have, on average, 2 freshman on the court. That coupled with Penn States 2 RS Seniors and a Grad Student to Minnesota's one Senior makes Penn State by far the more experienced team of the two. 4 of PSU's 6 hitters are just Freshmen. Parker, Hord, Gray. Phegley has barely played, and Cathey isn't a starter. In my opinion, if Reed can't play, Parker should go to the left and Gorrell should play on the right in a Thelen-esque role. She's played that position in the past, as well.

That is an interesting observation.
I'm certain that most PSU fans don't consider this year's team more experienced than Minny. As far as I can recall I'd say Penn St has 3 freshmen on the floor most rotations. Freshmen with significant playing time: Parker, Hord, Gray, Hampton. Upperclassmen with significant playing time: Wieskircher, Leath, White, Reed. In any case, I have chalked up a PSU loss for this one; Minny is tough at home. This was my recollection as well. I have PSU in 4. I wish I could watch this one live.
Yeah, me too. I cannot find a free link and don't have a cable subscription.
I only have BTN Plus, which doesn't offer BTN TV streams IIRC.

I'm pretty certain you will be wrong.
I voted MN 3-1; we have not been playing consistent on the road.
I'll be ecstatic if it goes to 5.

Actually, Cathey started for Reed in the two matches they played this past Saturday; coach said he likes her net presence.
I still don't know if Reed was nursing a minor injury (she was dressed in sweats) last Saturday. Hopefully she'll play today.
I've been hoping coach Rose would platoon Gorrell on the RS.
It's unfortunate that she hasn't seen much court time with how well Hord and Gray have been playing.

Didn’t feel like suiting up that day? The exaggerations are unnecessary, as is the ridiculous notion that Cathey has earned a starting role over Reed.

I'm struggling to find where anyone said Reed was benched or on the other side of the spectrum was given the weeekend off in DC. So not trying to sound ridiculous or make unnecessary assumptions, the fact is if Reed cant go or isn't 100% Cathey is in AND....wait for it....4 of the 6 PSU hitters would be Freshmen. Enjoy the match y'all

Minnesota I feel needs a signature win and I think they should get it here. They are tough at home, one of the better hca’s in the country. Dare I say an in system Minnesota is tops in the country. How tough a serving team is Penn State? If you can keep SSS moving it makes it hard for her to run that fast and polished offense. If she is not running down errant passes all night they come at you quick and fast. I went with the Gophers in 4.

Is it in my imagination or not that many teams in Div I Women's Volleyball are now running a fast paced offense? Not so sure it is that much of an advantage anymore for the Gophers, but yes to home court.
Feel Penn State's back court is more solidified than the Gophers this early in the season. Guess I am surprised the Gophers isn't. We usually play well against more polished teams and I do not see it any different this evening.
Here's to hoping someone SOON steps up to the plate, as this team needs a much needed "CLOSER" like they have in the past with Santana and Wilhite. I am leaning toward Rollins, as that type of player this season.

Huh? I understand underplaying your team's chances to avoid disappointment, but "ecstatic if it goes to 5" sets a new standard for hyperbole.

Rollins offers the Gophers a lot. But a go-to hitter? Not sure that's ever going to be her role.
I have no idea what to expect. But a loss to a rebuilding Penn State at home will be very disappointing.

Once a match goes to 5, it's a toss up IMO.
I give the home team the advantage.
What it means for PSU is that we'll be competitive in conference play.
After graduating >90% of our offense, yeah, I'd be ecstatic. No hyperbole.
