Its interesting to me that Penn State will have, on average, 1+1/2 freshman on the court at any given time whereas Minnesota may have, on average, 2 freshman on the court. That coupled with Penn States 2 RS Seniors and a Grad Student to Minnesota's one Senior makes Penn State by far the more experienced team of the two. Minnesota, I think will have to step up their game to win this one.

I really hope Rollins starts to take control of the OH1. She’s impressive.

But when I open my eyes, after taking a deep breath, I see a red shirt senior (who didn't make the starting lineup in her three preceding years), a good red shirt senior setter, a good junior libero, a 5th year transfer outside hitter, and a bunch of freshman. I don't see any other sophomore or junior starters. Perception is reality. Let's see which perception is borne out by Wednesday's game.

I still can't figure out how good anyone in the B1G is right now. So, I'll call this one to the home team in 5.

I think Hugh played the lineup he did on Thursday night under the assumption he was going to have another match to play against a P5 opponent before playing Penn State.
Not getting to play yesterday feels like a body blow heading into that match. Maybe to the team it doesn't, but it does to me.

Based upon what I saw at Maples Pavilion, I'd favor PSU due to their vastly superior floor defense. Maybe with Minny at home that sort of equalizes things however.

I still can't figure out how good anyone in the B1G is right now. So, I'll call this one to the home team in 5. This is a good point. They all have incredible ceilings to consider, but they’re all so inconsistent with a mix of maturity and immaturity. I think it’s going to come down to who can gel the quickest in conference play and not drop matches in the beginning. I give that edge to Wisconsin because they are essentially playing the same team as last year but with a new set of OHs that are better. Do I think Wisconsin will be the best in the NCAAs out of the B1G? No. But I do think they’ll win the B1G.

That is an interesting observation.
I'm certain that most PSU fans don't consider this year's team more experienced than Minny.
As far as I can recall I'd say Penn St has 3 freshmen on the floor most rotations.
Freshmen with significant playing time: Parker, Hord, Gray, Hampton.
Upperclassmen with significant playing time: Wieskircher, Leath, White, Reed.
In any case, I have chalked up a PSU loss for this one; Minny is tough at home.

Looking forward to watching this match. It should be a good gauge for both teams. I was wondering earlier which BIG team had the best OH tandem and both these squads came to mind. Nia Reed really looks fit and aggressive this year for PSU. The freshman OH2 for Minnesota looked like she might take Martin's spot.

65 for a high. We might get to see this one. So we can figure on 95 in the Pavilion. The place does not cool down and there will be a lot of people in there. #openthedoors

Tiny girls with towels. Don't turn your back on them either. They can be dangerous.
