Not so sure any libero wants to come. If UH continue this no libero lineup, the libero position is going to be under used. I don’t think you want to have 2 libero on scholarship(assuming Hanawahine has one now) when your primary lineup is libero-less. We are running this system because we don't have an elite libero. If one was willing to come, we would use them.
How about incoming L Georgia Via?

Elena Oglive should reconsider and come to UH. Look at players like Riley Wagoner and BVS....both are undersized but there is room for someone like Oglive in this system. She can be the next BVS.

Im sorry, if it was any other school I would agree, but its Stanford. You do NOT turn down a full ride scholarship and degree from that school, regardless if she was a full time all american at UH vs Bench rider at Stanford.

Certainly a full ride from Stanford is worth something. But, my experience working with and training post-grads from all the best schools, is that the pedigree of the school they went to is worth less than many like to imagine. It may help a bit with the first position and offer. But after that, what matters is what did they learn and what can they bring to the table. After two or three years, those who keep mumbling over and over what school they went to when asked about their job performance, are usually those who went to pedigree schools with the mistaken thought it would be their life ticket to success.

With all respect to Oglive, Wagoner is actually a pretty comparable player to her skill-wise. Hawaii needs to recruit some athletic outsides that can hit with Rasmussen and Van Sickle graduating next year.

McClure at Stanford is undersized too. She's listed as 6' but that seems a bit generous (as it is for many players listed at 6'). My guess is that Oglive will be a DS or libero at Stanford but that's bc of their other potential pins, not just Elena's size. It's possible that other players would emerge as better libero/DS candidates and Oglivie could play a role like McClure has (excellent ball control OH2).

Very true. This is an old trend of employment. It may help you being an alumni of the same school as a hiring manager but other than that most places of employment are looking for people who can make an impact and showed that in their college career. Not necessarily as a student athlete but in other extracurriculars and on campus groups. Anyone can go go any school get good grades and leave. What you did in your school/areas community is what will attract someone to you. A School ñame is just a school name.

There’s a lot of depth at the pin that’s redshirting currently at Stanford i believe and Hentz’s shoes will be difficult to fill.

I've never seen Oglive play although I've seen her pics as posted on this forum, but I would take Wagoner over any other "short" OH.

Oglivie is being recruited as an L/DS by Stanford. She should be in the running to replace Hertz at the L position. I see her as being very elite as a passer. She won't be as good of a defender as Hentz, but who would be. Could she fill as an OH in an emergency/injury situation, sure, but given the pin hitters Stanford has already recruited, I don't see her playing the front row.

A bit more explosive than Wagoner, a bit less hops and athleticism of BVS. But an incredible VBIQ and all around game. She's been D1 level since her freshmen year of high school. Basically at this point she is beyond playing for just her last year of high school and club. Here's what she is up to today: www.teamusa.org/USA-Volleyball/Features/2019/September/04/Girls-Youth-Team-Ready-for-Worlds-in-Egypt She's third from the right in the bottom row.
I also doubt she changes her mind about Stanford. But, if she does, I think Hawai'i would have to have someone else lined up that is pretty incredible to not give Oglive an offer.

I know it’s super early but I wonder if Gianna T’agoai will be on Robyn’s radar at all. She’s only a freshman in HS but could be a really solid get in the pipeline and Mizuno Long Beach girls have always done well at Hawaii and we’ll likely be back to a 5-1 by then plus she’s already Norene’s height and is on Varsity with her sister Nalani.

RAM and staff need to keep an eye on Devon Kahahawai, 6'1 Soph. OH playing for Kamehameha. Very athletic, can play 6 rotations, grand-daughter of Joe Kahahawai, long time Kailua High Football Head Coach.
