Karch's evaluation of Hentz as a libero shows his inability to appropriately evaluate talent for the National team. Period. I don't think he understands the emotional component of her game. Sure she might move around more then she has to at times but that's her. Take that away and you're nerfing her. Maybe Mozart used too many notes sometimes. I'm not sure where this criticism comes from, really- she goes after a lot of balls that there's no point even trying for, but she gets an amazing number of them, so maybe she knows what she's doing. There was talk when she was a freshman that she was zooming around too much and taking too many balls, but it was soon realized that she was playing all those balls really well and the team pretty much adopted a stay-out-of-her-way policy. Maybe that won't play on the national team, but's it's worked out fine for Stanford.

BYU needs to find a way to get into the PAC12. I believe playing in the WCC hurt BYU a lot. Not enough tough competition, once conference season started. This is correct Won’t happen because the Pac12 plays on Sundays.

Why were the Dollies dressed in gray sweatsuits? It wasn't cold in the arena. They didn't have a lot of time to change -- Pep rally just outside the Radisson Blu at around 4:15 to send the team to the arena, then over to the Pourhouse to perform several numbers with the band, then back to the hotel and then short walk to the Target Center.

The DJ, for me, was annoying with relentless loud interludes between points. Amen, and ditto for the loud guy trying to pump up the crowd with the usual inane antics ("give yourself a hand"). Or is that guy the DJ. The crowd is there for volleyball, not the circus.

This match reminded me of Hawaii against Penn state final four awhile back. Undersized hitters against the tall penn state team. After Hawaii won the first set it was all penn state. Can’t teach height.

Watching the press conference. The Byu players got asked two questions and mostly not about volleyball and mostly about marriage. where are you watching the press conference? It says it was removed.

This broke my heart. She has been amazing this year. Hate for her to go out with a negative hitting %. "They're a really good block," said Jones-Perry, her eyes red from dried tears. It was tough. They did a really good job."

I finally watched this match yesterday. I only saw snippets on my phone before.
Fitz, Hentz, Adale. They were amazing. In system, BYU scored. McKenna Miller would have made no difference with the horrible passing by BYU. Stanford served tough. Each game was pretty good up to 13. Just had to be so frustrating for BYU to finally get a hit past the block only to have Hentz make a dig.
Really hated to see RJP go out hitting negative. I truly believe they don’t name the POY until after the semis. I think it was down to KP and RJP. It would have been embarrassing for RJP if she’d had won POY.
I appreciated Hambly saying something like, “We all know this wasn’t the BYU team that has played so well all season”. But credit Stanford for that. They completely took them out of their game.
Still haven’t watched the other semi or final. Hopefully this weekend. Time to get to know the BYU men’s players!

Since this was (still is: after resuscitating it) a match thread - therefore with Both fanbases involved, along with other VT'ers; plus, as a former player/coach - I disagree w/ this. I had never watched much of their first match, in Provo, on 08/31. I did so yesterday. I then reviewed the Semifinal match again: paying particular attention to the team's performance w/out M. Miller playing. HUGE difference. Team performance isn't in a vacuum: All components of a team's play affects the bigger picture: like a well-functioning organism-machine. Found this to be a tad bit self-serving; what do you expect: the Best L in the country to NOT do her skill? Afa Jones-Perry crying: she was doing so towards the end of the 3rd set. If you don't/cannot accept losing, DON'T Get Involved with sports-competition. Hambly was correct: Miller Was Missed!

Many of the greatest athletes on the planet have shed tears of disappointment. You must live in a bubble if you've never put yourself in a position that risks disappointment that might lead to tears.
