I honestly don't think our passing is that bad. Floor defense needs a lot of work. Gregory is still diving to her left a ton and liberos should never get beat on an angle swing (this was a reoccurring theme last year too). Swings in between the seams aren't being dug well either (see the Georgia match). Hopefully these injuries to our DS's will subside because we could sure use Cerame's passing and Hargreaves' serving. Do you think that is on Gregory or they way they have designed their defense to play? I feel like it's a little of both. I bet that she's standing right where they want her (when the block is shoulder-to-shoulder and pressed). But when Dooley's press is late, the back row adjustment isn't there and she still seems to stay where the block should have been instead of where it is. And picking up tips that land in front left wasn't happening nearly as much as it needed to but at A&M they made an adjustment (especially on Hans pipe swings) and had Hall stay home instead of block.

I miss Carli Snyder. One of my fave players of all time. Loved her ever since she was a freshman. She grew so much as a player between her sophomore and senior year.

For sure, I know that is not how she was trained in high school or club....

All liberos on very good div 1 teams, Tharp is a ds for Kentucky. Gregory had all the same club coaches as them and highschool. Louisville puts very good lobs int he NCAA with good defense and passing. Gregory wasn't trained to be beat cross court

I'm more concerned with our passing and the floor defense behind the block. We won't be able to go far in the tournament unless we can side out at a high rate and our passing breakdowns can be night marish. Defensively when we are serving, not blocking balls we are sometimes leaving alot of digs out there too. Just have to see if we improve enough by December I guess... I honestly don't think our passing is that bad. Floor defense needs a lot of work. I haven't been impressed with Cerame's serve receive. Sure she is athletic but I saw her overpass or shank more than passing 2 or 3's.

I feel like Carlton should be able to hit with much more heat. She’s 6 foot 7 and jumps decently. She misses wide an awful lot. She needs to just pound the ball down the line or straight down over some of the smaller outsides. She should be putting holes in the floor.

She was putting heat on the ball - .538 with 7 kills on 13 swings, no errors. Put several balls in the center of the court and had a couple great line shots too. A lot of her errors have been generated by sets that were not very well placed for her. If Marlie continues to improve, as she has these last couple of matches, I think we'll see Carlton with more performances like last night.

Yeah, Carlton can really get some heat on the ball when her timing is good and the ball is in front of her. A lot of times, Marlie will set the ball too far off the net. Carlton doesn't have a super heavy swing, so she relies a lot on good timing.

Gators Remain Steady in Latest AVCA Poll Florida checks in at No. 13 for second straight week GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida volleyball team remained at No. 13 in the AVCA Top-25 Coaches Poll after going 2-0 last week, as announced on Monday. The Gators also jumped six spots in the latest NCAA RPI rankings, moving up to 12th. Florida swept South Carolina on Wednesday night to move to 5-1 in the SEC. Thayer Hall led the way with 11 kills, while Rachael Kramer and Lauren Dooley both added eight kills apiece. UF followed that performance with a road sweep of LSU, where two Gators recorded double-digit kills: Thayer Hall (18), Holly Carlton (12). The Gators return to Exactech Arena on Friday evening when the Crimson Tide come to town. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. on the SEC Network +.
