Anyone know how many years of eligibility Bruna will have? I wonder if we'll see an official announcement about her this coming week. 4

Super excited to hear Bruna got cleared! Coach has so many pieces to play with. We could run a 6-2 with Quade & Bruna in the pins, Cooney & Prince at OPP, Mica and Diana setting , Fleming & Hinton Swanson at Middle. Swanson is 6’4” and a blocking force. Best player out of Nebraska this year. Remember Mica also plays OPP , and she’s a lefty if I’m not mistaken which is great for that position. We could play a similar system to PSU when their setter played OPP in the front row. Holzman should red shirt. We have Collins and Holliwell to back up the pins. Why waste a year of her eligibility if she isn’t going to play that much. CAN WE PLEASE STOP IT WITH THE 6-2 TALK. NONE OF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. No one ever understands that the mere ability to do something is rarely evidence that you should.

CAN WE PLEASE STOP IT WITH THE 6-2 TALK. NONE OF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. Well, Mr. CAPSLOCK, maybe you should take it up with this guy named Russ Rose. He happened to run a 6-2 at Penn State in 2017 with two pretty decent setters (Detering and Weiskircher). They went 33-2. But I get your point...the fool might have gone 35-0 if he had followed your shouted orders and exclusively run the 5-1. I don't think anybody is saying that Illinois will or should run a 6-2 exclusively, but those of us who do know what we're talking about can definitely see some circumstances with Illinois' two young setters (and some possible rotations with the new crop of middles) where a 6-2 could be very effective in certain situations and against certain teams. As has been correctly pointed out, Mica is the wild card (lefty, very athletic, and a pretty decent OPP) in making this worth evaluating. The Illinois coaching staff has already shown they're inclined to look at and try high-risk, high-reward options. Looks to me like the particular combination of players they've assembled for 2019 will see a lot of experimentation, including whether a 6-2 makes sense. I do think the 6-2 could work too look at Penn State 2017. I kinda see us very similar to them next year in the setter position. We have a great left handed setter that hasnt played much front row setter and struggles a bit when she is a front row setter. Also both setter are not the best at blocking which could be a huge concern so I could see it work out for the best and I see us using it at the start of the season. Although I also think that it would be best for us to use a 5-1 just so that the hitters can get the consistency that they all need throughout a game

Should we expect Diana Brown to be competitive and get playing time? She seems like a great kid and I was looking forward to see what she can do. I hope she can find a role on the team, would hate to see her transfer.

Bruna Ana Vrankovic just got cleared for next season. Will not have to sit out any of the season. I am becoming a little concerned that the local newspaper has not mentioned anything about Bruna being cleared for next season. I am beginning to wonder if this post by 'combes' is legit. Looking at 'combes' other 11 posts, they all concern Illini volleyball, and it appears there may be some connection between the poster and Mica Allison. Does the university have to wait for the NCAA to formally make the announcement before any comment can be made? In my dotage, I have nothing much better to do than obsess about Illinois volleyball!

I hope she can find a role on the team, would hate to see her transfer. If she hits the weight room and can offer a high level of physical presence, I don't see why not. By no means am I asking for JP like play, but I think she's capable of JP like effort.

Just tried the link to Bruna's Instagram account, and there is a message that it is not available and may have been removed.

As mentioned, Bruna announced it on her instagram. It was also reported on the Rivals Orange and Blue board and the Illinois 247 board by the administrators of those boards. In other words, not by a random fan but by the ones who run the boards.
Mica is a former student of mine at Monticello. Great kid. I will be shocked if she is not the setter in a 5-1. Feedback that I have gotten from workouts is that she is the one.
