I liked Hancock's setting when she took over in the last couple of matches at the WCH. I still like Lloyd, I'm rooting for her to make a comeback, and I'm also excited to see how Carlini has improved and what Poulter can bring.
2019 should be an excellent year to develop players. IMO, the vets only need to play in the IOQT and possibly the World Cup. Between the VNL, PAG, and NORCECA Championships, there should be plenty of playing time available for the younger players.
I also like Kelsey Robinson at Libero, and I like Megan Courtney at Libero, but I don't like both at libero. I think we need one (or both) at OH to help with depth - I think Larson and Hill were looking pretty tired by the third round of the WCH. The million dollar question is who develops into a decent libero for 2019/2020? I read somewhere that Sarah Sponcil expressed interest at one point (but I'm not sure what the overlap between beach and the Indoor NT season is). Carly Kan is also playing in Germany as a libero, but I haven't watched any matches to give an informed opinion. Recent grads like Kenzie Maloney from Nebraska?

I don't see much changes until after 2020. I have heard Karch has told some players that would like to train with the NT not to expect much until after the Olympics.

I think Maloney should be given a chance and give pro volley a chance. I thinks she has the athleticism to transfer to the professional game in the libero role.

I have heard Maloney is going to be a GA at Louisville for DBK. I think we need to get more time for those liberos willing to play in pro leagues. That was part of JWO's problem. She spent no time overseas. That definitely helped Banwarth. Robinson needs to spend her time as a OH, as well as Courtney.

I’ve always thought she had great potential at that position. Any video out there?

Lloyd is a wash. We need to look to the future. Since her surgery, her performance has not stabilized, and she has not looked the same. Hancock has performed better than I expected. She still doesn’t have the X-factor like Carlini, and her defense and blocking isn’t as good as Carlini, but she’s capable. Plus since her serve has been minimized, there’s nothing special. I think despite others obvious disdain for Carlini, she’s got the talent and is the obvious choice given a better opportunity, not some sub/backup situation. Would love to see Poulter given the shot as well.

Will Poulter be given any real meaningful time with the NT?

Isn’t Novara currently undefeated in Champions League and Serie A1? They lost today... still does not change the fact Carlini`s game has not improved...her sets to the middles are still a working progress. I don`t think there`s anything wrong setting every ball to Egonu as she can beat any team in the world Club/National Team on her own....but when they r playing against the low/mid-level teams in regular season I don`t think it is necessary to overuse her...this is the time to create a good connection with the middles and get everyone involved. Malinov was the best setter in the WCH....her performance in Serie A is not even close good as she was at the WCH....but in the WCH she was setting mostly balls to Egonu....something so easy to do. I’m glad you brought up Malinov... she took the spot vacated by Carlini. How is Scandicci doing this year compared to last year. They still have Haak so they should be out of this world, right?

Actually, Scandicci should be better this year because Stevanovic for Arrighetti is a massive upgrade, and Vasileva for DLC is another improvement based on current form.

Last season Novara won SuperCup and Italian Cup... This season they have already lost one Cup.
Scandicci is doing just fine. In fact they beat Conegliano already.. Something they could not do last season. But Malinov is definitely their weakest link. Valiselva is coming back from a shoulder injury. Mitchem got to be a starter but rightnow she's just their 3rd OH and this is because Milenkovic is injured. She is a big disappointment this season since she was great last season.

To say Carlini’s game hasn’t improved is ridiculous. I would like to see the middles get more involved, but they are obviously winning and the coach’s plan, like last year, revolves around the oppo. The biggest improvement is to the outside. Location is there and when switching up four different tempos to the outside, it’s a vast improvement to last year (not that DLC and Bosetti were much to work with). She’s not perfect, but she is improved...h8er.

Yeah, I completely agree that Carlini's setting to the OHs is better than last season. She was so not good at the quick setting to zone 4 last season, which resulted in Bosetti's lots of tippings. This season so far she can put the ball in the right position and create many single or 1.5 block opportunities for Bartsch. Bartsch gets blocked a few times, but I really don't think this is LC's fault when there's just one block over her.

I like Malinov, but she has been struggling to connect with her hitters. In the last match she was subbed and the back up setter was named Mvp of the match,in today match she was replaced again for a while. Haak gets a lot of sets, but I have to say that it's the same in Novara with Egonu. I believe both teams have the capability to play better
