FB Post from Carli Lloyd :
For those of you who have not heard from me or have been wondering where I’ve been, I want to share a quick note. I spent nearly a decade living my dream of playing volleyball at the highest level representing the United States of America, and I recently felt it was time to step away from this path. It is truly incredible to reminisce on this piece of my journey, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunities these years have given me. As I look forward I’m excited to have the opportunity to continue playing professionally and growing within this sport I love so much. I’ll be joining Eczacibaşi Spor Kulübü in no time and am really looking forward to this new quest. Thank you for your love, your concern and the tremendous amount of support- I appreciate you 🙏🏻💜

Although I'm curious - was it her decision to step down from Team USA or did Karch essentially force her to do so by telling her there was no room for her? All that we can and should go off of is what she said in her post. If there were other details, it’s not for the public to know. It seems that Carli didn't want to fight for a position anymore... Once that fire is gone then you gotta go. She did the right thing. Carlini had surpassed her and I'm not so sure Hancock wasn't better than her at the end of last year. With Poulter joining the group and making a push for number 2 it became painfully obvious Lloyd was fighting an uphill battle. She got to live her olympic dream and represent the USA.

Well when it's time to go, you can either do it gracefully or do it...less gracefully. I guess she took the first option.

I have no real basis for my assumption, aside from what she wrote here, of course... but I do believe it was her decision. I don't believe she was cut. I can imagine after not making the VNL Final roster she had a conversation with Karch who explained where he believed things stood as far as the depth chart and what he believed the future holds at the setter position and she made the choice to step away.

The key factor here is when the decision was made: after the Finals roster was decided or before?
