He should, in particular, be looking to develop young opposites. PLUMMER (sorry huge fan here lol). Did he forget she was opposite for like practically her whole life prior to college in addition to winning best opposite at FIVB u18s Egonu played OH for Italy.

They lost today... still does not change the fact Carlini`s game has not improved...her sets to the middles are still a working progress. Veljkovic and Chirichella are hitting .436 and .396 on the season, respectfully, and are 8th and 13th among all league middles in total points. Carlini has also been a big offensive threat herself, more so than even Hancock: 28 kills (most among setters in the league) on .590 hitting (best among setters in the league). Overall, Carlini has Novara hitting .328 -- the best in Serie A1. Hancock, in comparison, has Monza hitting .276. Wolosz and Conegliano are at .322. And only 31% of all of Novara's swings have gone to Egonu, in fact (due mostly to her playing less sets than other teams' stars). It just feels like she's getting every other ball because she's hitting like .400 with 5.5 kills per set. This too. She’s playing more offensively lately than since her freshman year. http://instagram.com/p/Brko3r8gvlE

any video of what that looked like back in the day? This was a bad match for USA actually, but there are other clips against China and some other team (Brazil maybe?). Not sure if they’re still on YouTube. But yeah Plummer played for Tstreet 18 Shawn, YouTube search could probably yield a good amount of videos

Yes true but I think Plummer was best spiker up until that last match (maybe after too not sure I don’t recall) and she was also receiving serve in rotations where Sun was struggling. Egonu was clearly the best player there but I really think Plummer showed that if she committed herself seriously to right side (instead of wasting time setting , sorry I said it) she could be pretty special. Just hope the talent from the 2016-2017 classes isnt wasted

Lilley/Plummer, Sun/Lanier, Pittman/Stone... could you even imagine that now This team also had players like Butler, Samedy, Hilley, Hentz, and Hammons on the sideline

Also, as I said in a different thread, Lexi’s problem is that, sans a few more defensive looks in the backcourt, she’s the exact same player she was 3 years ago.

I think OPP is also a spot which could have a opening along with setter, and libero. The NT needs that goto scorer.

Watching this really has me missing Glass, Dietzen and Banwarth. Dietzen took that match by the balls and was a blocking machine. Watching Glass set to the right really illuminates how poor Lloyd is at doing that same thing. No wonder we have not seen this type of production from our Middles and Opposites since Glass retired. I really wish THIS version of Hill and Murphy could rejoin the party. Really a magical and talented group. They should have won in Rio. Doesn't feel like they are headed to Tokyo with as much spunk and drive. I really want a gold medal for Foluke and Jordan...hell for all of them. I just think that if they aren't successful then maybe a new coach can take the next fresh crop of young talent and finally go the distance in 2024 or 2028?

Does anyone know what’s going on with Alhassan? I know she’s playing for NEC red rockets in Japan but there is no mention of her in the articles. When you look up her team in YouTube she hasn’t played in any of their recent matches... does anyone know what’s going on? Her insta has her traveling around so it seems she is not injured

Glass was phenomenal during the Rio quad. But she is not born that way. She has also gone through many ups and downs, struggles and defeats. USAV indeed does not have a terminator like Zhu, Boskovic, or Egnou, but IMH Glass was that go-to player for USA last quad. It's just that she was not a hitter.
Lloyd is a great setter, especially under the European system, but after a couple years as the starting setter in the USAWNT, she could not bring what Glass can do to this team. As I already said, none of the current setters is "Glass" right now. But who can we invest, through the same procedure that Glass had gone through, to be the one? Hope Karch has his answer.
