Hearing Beranek/Toppel, who must have committed to this entire season, definitely Huntington. I heard it directly from Eric at the NORCECA qualifier a few weeks ago with respect to playing with Toppel in Huntington.

In 2017, he totaled 765 points. Eric is shown as having 504 points.

So qualifying it is, kinda surprised E couldn't land someone with more points but there are few if any blockers available with said points.

On the positive side for me, it gives me another team to watch and cheer for at the qualis.

Sounds like Huntington is going to be 24 team draw so qualifying should be slightly easier but we all know how difficult getting through those can be, not to Eric or the McKs but plenty of others.

Why didn't Toppel play much last year? He was going to play with Brian Bomgren until Taylor picked up last minute, but other than that I don't think he played.

Hagen Smith posted something a while ago on IG after he played a tournament with Toppel saying that he had a detached tendon in his shoulder or something along those lines. So my guess would be injury

Eric advised me that because Toppel was injured in 2018, some portion of 2017 points will carry over (maybe the first 2017 tournament points get thrown out and are replaced by the one 2018 tournament points he got so he gets credit for a full year). With the expanded Huntington draw and depending upon which main draw teams play internationally, Eric thinks there is a good chance he and Toppel may get seeded into the main draw.

Which would explain his picking Toppel, points play.
