I sure hope Klistan Lawrence, the 6'7 OH from 352 Elite stays with volleyball and not basketball. This kid is special and might be, if not for sure, the #1 recruit in the 2021 class.
Big jump, hits hard and passes very well. Really excited to see athletes like this coming up. He carried himself really well all weekend and appears to be a good teammate.

Klistan is absolutely dedicated to volleyball. His father Ramon Lawrence played for the Cuban national team, and was recently head coach of team Puerto Rico. He is also the nicest, most humble kid who just enjoys the game and being around other boys who like to play. He is fun to watch, his back row play has improved markedly since joining 352, and I agree that his future is bright.

ECC was really good this year with some great talent but Klistan was off the charts. His passing and overall ball touches were so much improved from last year. Also, looking across the board after, it was impressive how many teams have flat out finished really well across many of the Qualifiers. I am sure it gets everybody crazy to think how some of these teams will or will not get seated. In past years teams from ECC have truly been overlooked. There were teams that didn't do well and were missing guy's that will probably end up a 3rd seed or ?? MVP 18 is a real good team that had a tough weekend. ECVC 18 real good but finished 5th Pace 18 with a 9th place finish at Harrisburg.... ouch! Yorktowne 18 Blue ?? 16s NFVB all solid finishes especially at ECC. Amazing finishes at ECC in semi and finals 15s MVC looked real good but there finish should hurt them down the road. Hot Shots looked real good...... 3 Qualifier wins. Hopefully the committee won't miss this one 14s C2 Attack was impressive but the 3 teams behind were all better than usual at ECC Palm Beach Pace 303 14s WPC not sure why they didn't come. They missed really good competition Besides some seeding issues the ECC Committee did a great job at this event. The open divisions that had USA splits were very competitive from day 1. Canada, Mid-West and Cali teams showed up and made up a solid event. Wondering which teams will be hit hardest by the ECC seeding bug at Nationals???

Orlando came in 20, ECVC 22, Yorktown 25, Academy Boys 30. MVP came in 23 in the SCVA Holiday Classic. All of these teams are strong and can do well at Nationals. However, like in the SCVA matches on the first day will be a dogfight. It is good that teams travel so that there is an understanding of competition from tournament to tournament.

It's funny you mention that about ECC and SCVA. If you were in the 18s Division their seeding was very tough. Their top teams went first and as top 2nd seeds, then the rest of the teams got thrown in as 3 and 4 seeds. I know you could say that the best teams will rise to the occasion. Maybe, but the Canadian Teams didn't do as well or other top teams from the East. Their could have been other California teams searching for bids like at ECC and Winterfest. The seeding committees and bid directors need to be helping each other and on the same page....

Counterpoint on using the Invitational to compare to ECC: the East Coast teams didn't go on hiatus like SCVA teams are forced to, and could have improved teamwork to a much greater extent - my observation, to date, is a good "team" can and does beat teams with better individual players (and yeah, there's some bias in that last part - I'm well aware a great player can come from anywhere in the country).
The upcoming West Coast Classic will shed some light, as the open divisions are heavy with qualified teams, with many non-qualified teams dropping to USA.

Looking at 18 open, there does not look to be any easy wins there.

Q: Do the clubs in this tourney go on hiatus for HS season as they have to in CA? (I'm trying to figure out what, if any, inferences we can draw from 17s). Wisconsin & NY State play in fall so no interruption NJ has no such rule so although in season are allowed to play club ball tournaments. I think Florida has already finished their HS season I would think there are a good number of players from New Jersey or Pennsylvania would not be allowed/be able to play at East Coast since they are both currently in state/local playoffs.

PA yes. NJ as far as I can remember have never been prohibited from attending. Some NJ HS coaches hold a practice to discourage attending ECC.
