Who do you see Carly going with long term after Britt? If there is anything as long term. www.fivb.com/en/about/news/fast-learner-wopat-advances-from-itapema-qualifier?id=82292The USA women already have a lot of good young blockers with Alix, Summer, Claes, Larsen, Howard, etc. who should still be around for the next quad. It’s going to be hard for Carly to break into that group, but if she does she’ll have plenty of younger defenders to choose from. Potentially, I'd put her after only Alix and Kelly, but that will have to play out.

The women’s field is quite deep in this one. The only notable one missing it the Czech team. Surprised not to see Sude/Borger since other German teams are there. That’s going to be another competitive fight for two Olympic spots. Also no Australians. I expect most American teams will break pool but after that it’ll be a battle. So much parity on the women’s side. The Australians probably decided to stay in China. Australia won Asian Beach Champs this past weekend and they’ll be in Jinjiang next week. It just doesn’t make sense to go back and forth from China and Brazil. You’re right. Sude/Borger and Ludwig/Kozuch not in this one too.

Game against SP/MHP will let us know where they stand, if they play them (assuming modified pool play 🤮) Haven't seen them play this year, and I'm not sure how Brooke fairs against huge blocks. I'd expect it to be close. I think that Brooke and Kerri can win if they trust and use their training they train with SP/MHP . So I’m sure they will have a good game plan

Canadians win their first match against Josi/Juliana and KWJ/BS wins against Russia. Then they’ll play each other to top the pool. Funny how Josi/Juliana also had to qualify and this is what Juliana said “It felt like I just took some time off and now returned home,” she commented. “It was funny that when I was leaving the court Kerri (Walsh Jennings) was coming in to play too and I thought that we used to share the courts in the World Championships gold medal match and now here we are, in the qualifier. But it’s how it works, we both love playing and we’ll keep doing it for as long as we can.”

KWJ/BS up 14-7 against Russia now.
Dutch defeated Finland in straight sets. 21-12, 21-17.
Wow. Canada wins Josi/Juliana 21-12, 21-7 (!). I thought it’ll be a tight match between the two teams.

She used that serve a bit in Huntington Beach but had trouble keeping it in the court. It’s a great weapon for her if she can get any consistency with it. But also I think it’s a sign she’s feeling healthy. There were times last year where she didn’t look 100%.

That team is built to give Brooke trouble because they shoot a ton, have a big block and a waterbug defender. If the US can be competitive with them, it would prove a lot about how well they are playing now
