A big congratulations to Baylor. There have been undefeated teams that weren't the #1 overall seed. Despite being the #1 seed, Baylor will be viewed as an underdog by many - I hope they prove them wrong.

Good day for the Big 12 overall. Oklahoma has a good chance to get to the second weekend, though it will be two very tough matches to do so. I'm just happy Iowa State made it, I don't know if we can beat Creighton, especially if Holthaus is out/rusty off her injury, but it's better than not being there!

I am really hoping all four Big12 teams do well. It would serve the conference well to make a statement. I think this especially can be furthered by BU and UT making a deep run.

Any idea when end of season awards will be announced? Isn’t it usually the day after the selection show?

Any idea when end of season awards will be announced? Isn’t it usually the day after the selection show? I thought they would be released today as well. As far as POY, I would think it should be co-POY with White and Pressley taking the honors. If they're going off KPS/overall points, then Pressley leads White. In every other category, hitting %, aces, blocks, digs, I believe White leads Pressley. I think both have earned it and feel like that would be the best things to do. Just my opinion.

There are two issues with POY: fist is I don't think coaches are allowed to split their POY votes, so they can only vote for one player. Second, if my first assumption is true, there are an odd number of teams/coaches, so for there to be a voting split, there would need to be someone to vote for a third player, which would be stupid. Teams are only allowed to nominate one player from their team for POY, so if Texas' nominee is White, but you want to vote for Butler, you can't, pick White or pick someone not Texas.
With all that said, I highly doubt there will be a co-POY situation and the lone POY will be Pressley.

I’m thinking it’s gonna look like:
POY- Pressley (BU) FOY- Fields (UT) SOY- Lockin (BU) LOY- Kinley (OU) COY- Gray-Walton (OU)

Ryan has COY locked up, IMO.
And while I do think Lockin will get SOY, I hope Gabriel is at least a fellow first teamer.
Last year, the awards came out on Monday, so it's odd that they're this late.
Also last year, all five Texas hitters made the first team. I think this could happen again. Asja may go to 2nd team.

I guess I could just see it going to Gray-Walton for taking OU from being picked in the bottom half of the Big 12 to finishing as the third team in conference with the second best record. But I’ll be fine with McGuyre getting it lol

So, I'm interested to hear everyone's thoughts as to why Lockin is SOY. Assists per set? Other stats?
I don't see how anyone other than McGuyre gets COY.
