Duda does not look impressed. Duda gets a kill. 6-6 Duda gets a huge dig but Kerri gets a kill deep corner. 7-6 Kerri shoots one long... they would’ve had a two point break. 7-7 Brooke sides out. 8-7 Kerri trickle ace 9-7 Brooke sides out (it looked out to me, but judges don’t say anything) 10-7 Agatha calls timeout. I think they called a touch on Agatha on the ball Brooke hit out to go up 10-7.

Great match by kerri.. it looked like Brooke tried to option Kerri late but Kerri kept setting her. That last serve by Brazil... oof.... but sometimes the better team just makes one less mistake. Really poor decision by Duda to go for the ace there when Brooke was starting to struggle to side out.

I kept waiting for them to choke as I am so used to the Kerri/Nicole days. Anytime they were on the verge of a breakthrough win, Nicole lost points in a hurry. Brooke is not Nicole. She held steady.
Even had they lost, that was an amazing step forward. Duda was absolutely lights out from midway through that 2nd set and Kerri/Brooke didn't do much wrong. With all the momentum with Brazil, I didn't give USA much chance of pulling that 3rd game out. Huge sign of things to come that they were able to come out on the other side of that.
Depending on how this next match goes, they have the upper hand with picking their schedule. Sucks to be Sarah Hughes.

I think Kerri and Brooke are pretty much playing as much as they can. Not sure about the 3*, but the stretch of 4* and 5* started this week.

That maybe the mental side of the game where they both might have a little doubt that they belong at this level! Yeah, they belong here. Kerri has Brooke confident & hope ready to win her first ever Gold Medal. What an amazing confidence booster going into the summer months.

I don't really get the sense that these Brazilian players have much autonomy over their partner selections. I bet it's a do as the federation says type arrangement.

They were in control of that match until Ana started feeling sick or whatever. If it’s just a heat-related thing she’ll just have to figure out how to deal with it better. She’s only 20 after all.

Until Alison and Bruno split last year and they were changing partners at the speed of light. Few years ago the Brazilian confederation dictated who plays with who internationally but that is no longer the case. That was before the last Olympic games and lasted for only an year. At that time Agatha and Maria Elisa were playing together in the world tour while Agatha and Barbara played the national tour...nobody liked that system. Juliana was not happy about that system and expressed her opinion and she was prohibited to play internationally. Thank goodness that system only lasted one year.

I can't stand Duda. She reminds me a lot of Julianna with that mean mug. Looking at her, you can tell she rude af. Rebecca looks meaner... I'm honestly amazed she can get that type of jump. Cannot be easy on the knees.

Brooke must have read the board complaining about her swings, because she starts the game with some good swings and is scoring. US leading at the first time out and looking good so far
US up 14-9, Australia calls a timeout
Kerri and Brooke take set 1

Kerri with a block, USA 16-15
Kerri and Brooke take set 2: 21-19.
This may have been the best game Brooke as played. She still had a few errors swinging, but they were on her usual tip or soft hits. However, she had a few aces and it was actually nice to see her swinging at the ball.

What an incredible run. That Brazil match was ridiculously tense although I thought Kerri/Brooke were great throughout. Who would have thought they could win a sideout battle. (Duda hitting is something though, anywhere, anytime straight down). Australia never looked likely although when Brooke missed that shot by a mile to give them 19-19 it got tense for a second
Any debate about Kerri as GOAT has to be over now. 40 years old, 5? Shoulder surgeries and she wins with a player who has never contended before. Brooke was unreal (although that super packed sand didnt hurt). I guess this is what you get when you match up two players who have always made partners better throughout their careers.

So so so happy for Kerri to be back on top. I know this tournament was missing top 3 teams but they still played very well together. I hope they continue to keep moving up no matter what happens. I just love to watch Kerri play
