I think thats more her being awkward and young. Duda is awesome, love how aggressive she is Duda is an incredible athlete. If she were paired with a different big?? Wow!!! What’s wrong with Agatha? Ana may be a better long term option for Duda, but other than that I don’t think Brazil has a better big right now than Agatha.

As the match goes on, Kerri backs off the 2 game, I'm wondering why that is. The Option works great for these two, and I'd rather have Kerri going on two at the end of games than Brooke siding out maybe half the time.

They'd be by far the most talented team in Japan.

Duda and Clancy both went on 2 far more often than Kerri. If they can develop the 2 game more, they could be a top 3 team.

I can remember several (let's call it three) times when it was obvious Brooke passed it into a perfect On 2 window, and me thinking, great Kerri will put it away, and then Kerri pauses, then passes, for no apparent reason.

Wait much longer and it will be too late to qualify for Tokyo. I’d bet they wait until the next quad.

Agatha is a great player but she doesnt generate a lot of points with her block and Duda is a weak defender, so they are poorly matched when they are serving. A partner like Larissa would be a better match for Agatha but I agree she is an excellent player

Duda has a great topspin jumper but using it against Kerri was a mistake. When Kerri struggles to pass its usually floaters and she handled Duda's serve with no problem. Early in the semi, Kerri was hitting on 2 a ton, but she definitely tapered off a little, I think maybe because Brooke was so solid. I was interested to see how often not just Clancy but Mariafe for Australia went on two. Those two have a lot of talent but seem to often fall apart mentally

Brooke has been siding out just fine against 80% of their opponents and it’s been getting better each event. Only the top 5 teams give her any trouble at all. They seem to be doing ok letting Brooke work things out. It’s still more than a year to Tokyo and I would worry that Kerri has a finite number of swings left before her shoulder gives out again. So I hope she doesn’t start going on 2 more, at least not just yet.

I think all the top partnerships are set. Ana has no incentive to leave Rebecca, whom they've had a string of wins and podiums, for Duda, who has upside, but has been in a rut. Only thing I can maybe see happening to shake up the top is Ludwig splitting up one of the top German duos.

Been some questioning on Social Media why Kerri & Brooke wasn’t on the medal stand. They had to shower at the event grounds and catch a flight for CQ matches on Tuesday. Seems as though the CQ for this next event could have been played stateside the same week as this one was. Crazy to make two teams travel needlessly just to turn around & go home. Will never understand this.

Sucks they didnt get that moment, especially since its Brooke's first and Kerri hasnt won in forever This might be the greatest ever women's victory - other than an Olympics. Tiger Woods came back and won at age 43 in a "sport" that doesn't even require a light jog, and it was the end of the world. Kerri - at 40 - won with a partner no one believed could ever win, at an age no one has ever won, with 8 kids and 6 shoulder surgeries (estimates) and people are reacting like it was somehow expected.

Yeah, this was quite an achievement, one that I think will get more legs as it makes its way out into the general sports public. My concern is that they have a lot of heavy lifting ahead of them with all the travel and qualifying and hope they can sustain their physical health. To get this far they obviously have a regiment of nutrition and exercise. Anyone who has traveled a lot knows it isn't easy to maintain routines while on the road. But if anyone can do it Kerri can.

Super happy for both Kerri and Brooke! Both have worked hard to come back from their injuries, and it's awesome to see Brooke get that first FIVB gold. I have to admit I didn't think they had a shot at making the Olympics, and now I definitely think they can if they can stay healthy. Brooke's shoulder looks much better. She's never going to be close to a power hitter, but she was able to put the ball down when Clancy pulled in the final and she couldn't do that a few months ago.
It also seems like Brooke's game meshes pretty well with Kerri's, and it makes sense since Brooke is similar to Misty in a lot of ways. Obviously Misty was a vastly better side-out player, but both are excellent defenders with great ball control and high volleyball IQs. Both also have calm temperaments which may mesh better with Kerri than a more type A personality (like April or Hughes).
