Does Duda call up Ana Patricia after the bronze medal match for a team reunion? I think Kerri and Brooke are pretty much playing as much as they can. Not sure about the 3*, but the stretch of 4* and 5* started this week. I doubt AP and Rebecca will split up after this. They were in control of that match until Ana started feeling sick or whatever. If it’s just a heat-related thing she’ll just have to figure out how to deal with it better. She’s only 20 after all. Probably not, but can you imagine having to score off Ana/Duda? Or really off Ana because Duda is just too good to serve more than as a change of pace

So so so happy for Kerri to be back on top. I know this tournament was missing top 3 teams but they still played very well together. I hope they continue to keep moving up no matter what happens. I just love to watch Kerri play Brazilian event April won was missing just as many top teams. A lot of events are, in no way was this an easy field. Kerri/Brooke's run, when you factor pool play, was more difficult than April/Alix last week

I can't stand Duda. She reminds me a lot of Julianna with that mean mug. Looking at her, you can tell she rude af. I think thats more her being awkward and young. Duda is awesome, love how aggressive she is

At 40 years old, Kerri is the oldest woman to win gold, FIVB reports.
She won her 700th match on the world tour in the quarterfinals in Jinjiang.
This is her first gold since 2016.
They probably didn’t count that she came from CQ because CQ was played stateside.
Next week, they’re in CQ again in Ostrava, but maybe not for too long anymore.

Should also be a record for time between first and last, which is 18 years I believe (Rego was 17) For women's records most years with a win - 15 (Which I assume she already held since Larissa had 13) FIVB continues to be stupid in forcing teams that have won events to qualify in the same year they won. Ana/Rebecca and Kerri/Brooke now.

I’m with you on Duda though. Probably the best player in the world right now and she’s so fun to watch.

There are probably 5-6 teams that could win a 4/5 Star event on any given weekend and Kerri/Brooke just moved into that group. Hard to see any one of those teams dominating the way Norway does on the men’s side. World Champs is going to be wide open.

Warsaw seeding already came out. They’re still in CQ. The first event they’ll possibly be out of CQ is Gstaad, which is after World Champs.

I see that Claes/Sponcil passed Larsen/Stockman for the third main draw spot. Wonder if Larsen/Stockman or Day/Flint will drop out of Warsaw now. Long way to travel to face the Kerri/Brooke juggernaut.

If they get a good seed at the WC, which they should, they may jump out of the CQ and right into the no. 2 spot

Day/Flint, Larsen/Stockman and KWJ/BS are all headed to Ostrava for — CQ. ATeam, 2S, and Claes/Sponcil also going to Ostrava but in the MD. Their finishes in Ostrava will directly affect seeding of pools at World Champs. Pools will be drawn the Tuesday after.

I'm wondering if teams will smarten up and try to breakdown Brooke's sideout at the end of games. The pattern seems to go in these matches that the mixture of Brooke's variety and Kerri going on 2, leaves these teams clueless in the beginning. As the match goes on, Kerri backs off the 2 game, and Brooke has to sideout more and eventually her patterns become predictable and the other team digs every ball. Usually Kerri ends up making a play to break up the other team's momentum. However, so many times they let Brooke off the hook by serving Kerri late in games. I'm wondering as more teams see them, they will fix that. That's basically how April/Kerri always pulled those tight AVP Finals out over Fendrick/Sweat. Brooke could work on developing that cut shot to really break open her options.
It's really nice not having to see Kerri carry the sideout load. It really frees her up to make other big exciting plays. It's like watching the pre-2015 Kerri all over again.
It's ridiculous that they still have to play CQs and Qs for a few more events, but this result should vault them squarely in the driver's seat for Tokyo. It's crazy how quick things change. A few tournaments ago, it wasn't even clear if this was a Top 20 team. Now, they are safely a top 6 or 7 team. Maybe even more.
